en We would favour complementary therapies being available on the NHS, but they have to have been tested to show they are effective so we need more research.

en All [a provision for inherently safer technologies] asks industry to do is to put enough good-faith effort and planning to look for safer alternatives wherever possible. Industry has said they've done that already ... but time and time again we find bad actors out there that are using known dangerous technologies when there are safer, viable alternatives.

en Targeted cancer therapies, therapies that exploit the particular weaknesses of different types of cancer, show enormous promise for the next generation of cancer treatment. It's not practical to wait weeks after breast cancer surgery, for example, to decide how aggressive follow-up treatment should be. The effectiveness of many therapies depends on timing.

en is a priority. We need to know what children's lives will be like after therapies. We need to research what therapies protect better the quality of life, as viewed from the patient and parents -- not just the doctor.

en Once we felt confident with the commercialization of these two therapies, we began to broaden our scope and look beyond our own walls for promising therapies. We are in a constant quest for innovation and for the best science.

en I do want to find out what actually happened. Each person, when confronted with the situation, did what they thought was right. ... Now, are there things that we need to put in place to make the process of handling such an instance more effective in the future?
