Luckily, you get a couple days off after that tournament. He's been doing a lot of running, just stretching it out and keeping it loose. All wrestlers at some time throughout the season are a little bit banged up.

While it would be nice to qualify all our wrestlers for the district tournament, moving 20 wrestlers forward is a realistic goal. We are very fortunate to be returning several USAW Kansas Kids and high school state champions and medalists to this tournament series. We expect to have several of our wrestlers medal high at subs.

(Tonight) is a big game. We got a couple days off. It's not a whole week which is nice. We had a couple days of good hard practice, and maybe a little rest. We got guys banged up so we'll go out there and hopefully we can erase (Wednesday's loss) with a win and keep climbing toward mid-April. In tournament basketball, a lot can happen in five days. Some teams will come in who might have lost a couple of games at the end of the season and all of a sudden they hit a couple of shots and they're a force to be reckoned with.

Miguel played a few days in a row. Josh is going to play a few days in a row. We'll eventually work up to three days in a row. It's hard because we have two catchers that need to play. We'll start stretching them out the last couple of weeks.

The way we're playing defensively right now, I think we can play our best basketball of the season in these last couple of games and going into the conference tournament. Defense is keeping us together.

He really didn't feel like he was getting loose to where he needed to be to throw live BP, so we just backed him down. He had (a similar problem) last spring. It's something that just worked itself out with some treatment and some stretching over the course of a few days.

That was probably the first time I've been totally impressed, 100 percent. We wrestled the toughest competition -- top-ranked wrestlers -- and just went after it. They all beat top-ranked wrestlers whether they placed in the tournament or not. And to come out with a third place trophy and missing two of our guns, man, that's unbelievable.

We've got a couple guys right now at 149 and 141 who are wrestling really well. But we've had a couple guys banged up and a few others who regressed a little during the season. We've been fixing things this week and getting everyone prepared for the Big Tens. This has been our goal all season, and we feel that if we wrestle like we should that we could win.

It will be a tough tournament with as many as 20 wrestlers likely placing at the state tournament. We have a tough tournament team but have battled injuries. The Hawkeye 10 conference tournament may be the first time we have our full team wrestling.

He's banged up and a result he's mentally banged up too. We rely on him for a whole lot. Everything kind of falls on his shoulders and he takes more pride in that than most people. That leads to a little more fatigue. I'm not a big fan - no coach is - of missed practice time, but we got to hope that if we sneak some days off in he'll be more energized.

Franklin Heights, I think they are a little banged up right now and have a few holes in their lineup, but they do have a couple of good wrestlers. They have a good 130-pounder and a 140-pounder that we have to watch out for.

We'll begin to focus on the state tournament in a couple of days. It's going to come down to what team gets red-hot for three days. Mitchell was a perfect example of that last year. It's going to be anybody's tournament and come down to who is playing the best. We're just glad we have the opportunity to do that.

Concentration and composure, when we lose those two things, that's usually when we struggle. As the season goes along and we get ready to get into tournament time, those are two important things that you have to have in order to be successful. Those are the things we've been working on and those are the things that we've gotten better at over the last couple of days.

There are a lot of Class AAA wrestlers and obviously the out-of-state wrestlers in this tournament. I wanted to show everybody that a Class AA wrestler can win at this tournament.
