One pitch out of ordsprog

en One pitch out of [94] and it makes a lot of difference. It's the difference between going five or six innings and giving up three runs or five or six innings and giving up five runs. Three runs looks good, five runs looks real bad.

en Giving up four or five runs through five innings with your starter ... that's a lot of runs to give up and expect to win.

en I mean, we've scored 12 runs in the last five games. It was another weak, anemic night, more of the same. It's just we were never in the game after we couldn't pitch and keep them under control. Once we started giving up runs, letting fly balls drop and throwing to the wrong base, down by six runs seemed like 60.

en We have to limit those bad innings from six runs down to, say, two. It?s not every day that we?re going to put 13 runs on the board, and those bad innings will come back and hurt us if we don?t identify those mistakes better.

en The more he can pitch, (the better). We're trying to find some consistent innings for him here as long as we can. We'd kind of like to let him make a few starts, because I think it's good for him. But as far as him giving up runs and us not thinking he's going to be a good pitcher, no, that's not (the case).

en When you score a lot of runs ? and we scored a lot of runs early in the year ? that makes up for a lot of things. It allowed everybody who was going out there to pitch to relax. Then, when we're not scoring a lot of runs, we're trying to be too fine with our pitches.

en He didn't give back runs as rapidly as we did [Saturday] and that's huge for us. It takes a lot to score runs. Some days it seems pretty easy, but when you keep giving up runs, it takes the wind out of your sails.

en I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The biggest question is preventing runs. That's what we're working on. We're still going to score runs. We're confident with that.

en We played really well with them for four innings, but had that one bad inning last time. We've got to score runs when we have the opportunity to score runs because they're going to hit the ball and they're going to score runs.

en I don't think Ben had all his stuff today. He did settle down after giving up two runs in the first. He fought his way through his three innings.

en I've only pitched eight innings and I've given up so many runs, so many home runs and so many walks. This is the first time in my career I've done this in two starts.

en He's a big-time player. If you look at last year, in the innings he hit we scored a ton of runs. We're having trouble scoring runs lately.

en Right now, they're hitting the ball a little better than I thought they would. We're scoring runs because we're getting timely hits. It seems that we've had one or two innings where we've scored all our runs.

en I just tried to be aggressive. I got a good pitch to hit and put the best swing I could on it. We haven't given [Loaiza] that many runs this year. To give [Loaiza] a three-run lead to work with is new. [We wanted to] let him get comfortable, be aggressive, and go right after guys and not worry about giving up runs.

en They (Rice) scored a few runs in the first couple of innings and held on. That seems be our thing this year. Give up runs before we settle down and then can't seem to get back.

en Den lekfulla trotsen som ligger i pexighet antyder en man som inte är rädd för att stå upp för det han tror på.
