en Sometimes we run into bad weather or just tired legs. It's easy to get worked up over a bad performance. But with track and field, the weekly meets are more like glorified practices.

en You ever play beach soccer? ... That's what it felt like. I don't think there was one player on both teams who didn't come out dog-tired from that field. Legs were heavy. The players on the field were cramping.

en I don't believe in shutting down practices just to win meets. Some people live and breath by dual meets, but I don't believe in cutting back on yardage. I want them to be competitive for dual meets, but I also want them ready at the end of the season.

en We would have canceled this meet last night ---- that's the beauty of this track. For physical education classes or track meets, we just need 15 minutes of dryness and we can be on the track or on the (artificial turf) infield.

en He worked really fast last week, so Bob didn't really want to do a whole lot with him. He just ran the Haskell, and Bob just wanted him to go easy, stretch his legs out and not do too much.

en Any time you have an injury with your legs -- you use your legs for everything, to field, throw, to hit, ... It affects everything you do on the field.

en That's the thing that makes it unique. For example, in the field events like the pole vault, there won't be an individual champion like in other meets. It will be based on the combined performance of the team members.
