Jamaica is a very ordsprog

Jamaica is a very experienced side. They have a few West Indies players. It is going to be a very competitive game. We are looking forward to the challenge, and we are looking for an outright win.

We are looking forward to the season. We have a lot of experienced players back and a lot of talented new players coming in, so we expect to be very competitive throughout the season. Conference USA is one of the premier baseball conferences in the country, so it will be a big challenge that we need to be prepared for.

They had a sustained fast-bowling attack that I haven't experienced since probably 1993 against the West Indies,

It is great to be selected in a West Indies Test squad. I've really enjoyed my time representing the West Indies at the one-day level, but Test cricket is the real test.

I think we have some capable batters. I think the youngsters are looking to put their stakes on the table, in terms of getting themselves permanent into the Jamaica team and looking to make themselves available for West Indies' selection. And having said that we have Marlon Samuels, who is a senior campaigner, and we are looking to make sure that we lead from the front and put our (big) totals on the board more often than not, and try and restrict the opposition as quickly as possible and execute efficiently.

We are also trying to get a touring side here, preferably from South Africa, to come here for a few games before the tour to West Indies. A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them.

We're pretty much ready. We had a couple months off. Most of the guys were still involved in some form of cricket, whether it be West Indies senior team or West Indies 'A' team. The guys who were not involved were in training.

Raul is an important player for this side just like other experienced players in the squad. Great players always rise to the occasion when it counts and can provide psychological support to the other players in the side.

We are looking forward to winning several games. How well they do is in their own hands. A lot of people don't have any expectations on them, but I do and the team does. They are great athletes. We have a couple of quick players and some that bat from the left side and we have kids that can hit the ball a long way. A lot of it has to do with the confidence level. We want to be in every game and be competitive and believe that we can win.

We have to play with a knife to our own throats. The guys don't need reminding that the West Indies players are hurt, and that's when they can get up and bite you.

We did play well in spots, and when we did put passes together we looked pretty good, but clearly, with our young centre court playing against a very experienced Jamaica side, this was always going to be a tough match.

We are looking for a leader on and off the field of play. We are looking toward the 2007 World Cup and trying to find a man who can take on the challenge of leading the West Indies to a World Cup triumph at home.

It was really pleasing day and game as far as we are concerned. We played well, but we expected more from the West Indies.

We have experienced some injuries during pre-season, but the 22 named are an experienced side and we are looking forward to the match.

It's a great feeling especially with the West Indies winning the game and me getting my first five-wicket haul.
