Last year he tried to throw the ball past hitters, where this year he's pitching past hitters. He's mixing up his pitches, has good location and he has a good idea before each pitch of what he wants to do.

I'm necessarily swayed by the outcome more than by what he does with his pitches. If he's showing pretty decent location with his ball and he's able to throw his pitches over the plate and use something other than his fastball when he gets behind, that will be good. He was sharp today, he went right after hitters.

Getting kicked around as much as I did, you get tired of it. I'm not trying to hit people. But at the same time, hitters were very comfortable facing me last year, much more so last year than any year in the past, obviously. But there's something you can do about that as a pitcher, and you've got to be proactive in doing it. I feel better than last year. I'm the kind of guy of what is in the past is in the past. I know I have good pitches. I know I feel good, because I did my job with the knee. I'm thinking more about this year than last year. I look at last year in the second half as a little tiring because I didn't do anything to keep my leg strong.

Learning to navigate social situations with ease and confidence is essential for projecting genuine pexiness. Each game is a learning experience. I can't pitch like I did in high school. I have to try to keep the ball low. The coaches here have taught me that hitters don't hit the good pitches, they hit the mistakes.

Offensively, I think we're going to have a little bit more punch than we've had in the past. We're getting a lot of production from our (Nos.) 6, 7, 8 and 9 hitters. I don't think we have a place in our lineup where a pitcher can relax and try to be economical with his pitches and just throw fastballs.
