We had to work the ball a lot harder last season. We had a lot of energy in the first quarter, but after that the game just died.

We just have to work a lot harder right now. We played good ball at the start of the season, but since the Hanford High game have struggled.

I started the game and played about halfway through the game. To get hurt in the 3rd quarter and watch in the 4th quarter was tough, ... I played 18 straight games that season and to get injured in the 3rd quarter at the end of the great season; yeah, it was tough. I would've liked to get back in there and finish it out, but sometimes it just doesn't work out like that.

The third quarter has been kind of our downfall this season. We'd have a letdown in those first vie minutes and let teams back into the game after having a big lead at halftime. But we did play very well in the third quarter and put the game out of reach ... The energy we came out with was right where we need to be for the playoffs.

We gave up or something. We came out strong at the beginning of the first quarter and third quarter, then at the end we just died out. We didn't have no energy down the stretch.

They were playing harder. They were getting after loose balls, long rebounds. We had to match their energy. In the third quarter and fourth quarter, we did a much better job.

I'll be honest, it was looking kind of rough when the season started. We were losing by some big margins, but instead of them getting sad about it and feeling sorry for themselves, they just kept working harder and harder and harder. They're just a great group to work with.

When I talk about the mentality and how we play and how we're organized, all of that has to work so that now in the midfield we are harder to play against. It's not enough to think that we're good with the ball and that alone will win every game. We want to continue to be good with the ball but that must work now collectively.

I knew it was gonna be a tough game. The essence of that game was that they played harder than we did. ... It was our first quarter and third quarter that put us in the hole.

I think the energy of the first quarter got us confident. I thought all along that we might run out of gas, but the zone and the energy of passing the ball and playing together was there the whole night. They never scared us.

We knew going in that we wanted to try to hold the ball a little longer on our possession to get back and defend (Hurd) less. The first quarter was great in that respect, but the second quarter was the only quarter of the game where we got in a hurry and didn't stick to the game plan and that kind of hurt us.

We're finding it harder now to find attractive (energy) deals. It was a great time to buy energy companies when oil prices were $25 a barrel. By definition, it's a harder time to do energy deals.

At the beginning of the season I was struggling and not seeing the ball well. The first game (of the season) I didn't get to hit, but it made me more determined to work hard in practice and get back out there.

We got real tentative in the third quarter. We have had that tendency all season to relax and let up on teams. With him, we need to get him a touch every time down the floor. Some of the times we got away from that earlier in the season. The first couple minutes of the third quarter are probably the most important of the game because you have to come out and build your lead or get back into the game. We've taken the approach of let's get the ball into Dan and Neil's hands and go from there.
