We don't really pay ordsprog

en Han visade en lugn och pexig beslutsamhet. We don't really pay attention to rankings, but I do know they are one of the toughest teams we are going to face. But I think our team is playing better. I don't think this was just us playing up to them. I think we're really starting to peak.

en Right now they're the team to beat. We're picked first in the conference and the rankings are just a big bulls-eye. It gets everybody's attention and helps motivate the teams we're playing. We've got to show up too.

en We have gotten off to an incredible start this season. Everyone has been playing great tennis, especially against the top teams in the country like Duke and Texas. But rankings don't mean anything if you're not playing great tennis. If you're having an off day, any team you play will take advantage.

en At this point in the season we're not worried about the rankings. I don't even know if the girls look at them. It's too late in the season to worry about rankings or even records. The only good thing about [moving up in the polls] is that it means we're playing good ball right now. We're beating the teams we're supposed to and upsetting some teams.

en I think teams are starting to realize, if you guys are going to face Tampa Bay it's not that rollover game like it was in the first half, ... Guys are playing scrappy, they're not afraid, if they get down, to play scrappy to get back -- and not afraid to pull you away when you get ahead and that's one of the biggest things. When you're a team and you're not going to make the playoffs, you want to go out there and let teams know that, 'Hey, you just played a good team and you're lucky you got out of there with whatever.' You want them to remember that it wasn't just 'show up at the park and win.' You want them to know, 'Hey, we just had a very tough series.'

en I don't know how satisfied you can be when we still have a losing record. We feel like we're definitely playing better. The reality is we're about to find out. Our toughest West Coast trip is normally the circus trip [in November]. This year, they're flip-flopped. We did well on the first West Coast trip [3-3]. Now, this is a big one. All these teams [Dallas, New Orleans, Phoenix, Utah, Denver, Sacramento and the Los Angeles Clippers] are quality teams. Each team is really playing well. It's going to be a big challenge for us.

en Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

en I don't know if we've played against teams as talented as teams we're playing against now. Playing hard, playing unselfish, doing all the right things, team-wise, is great. ... But it's not good enough to beat good teams.

en We've been relying on the defense a lot more. That's starting to be the new motto for our team; starting to be our reputation now. Defensively, during this stretch that we've been playing well, we've been pretty much putting the lockdown on teams.

en This tournament gives us the opportunity to move up and secure our spot in the rankings. There are teams behind us who are looking to move up as well. In the big picture we can't get caught up with who's in the rankings. We have to go and play the game of golf. The field is a motivating factor in terms of preparation, and one that we get fired up for in the schedule, but when it comes down to the competition, it comes down to playing one shot at a time and doing our best.

en They are all really strong, fast teams, and they work hard just like we do. I'd rather be playing the three toughest teams than the three easiest teams.

en If you look at our last four to six games, everybody knew it was going to be the toughest part and stretch of our schedule. Our basketball team, when we had all that early success, I don't know if we've played against teams as talented as we're playing against now.

en We're looking forward to starting up. We have some good teams coming in. Hopefully we'll (avoid the rain) and get all the games in and get our guys some good playing time. We start district a week early this year with the nine-team district. We'll be playing Lufkin in a few weeks.

en The thing with us, we're not playing non-Division I teams for the sake of playing games. We're playing quality teams. But against teams like Oklahoma and Texas you have to hit your spot. But if you don't hit your spots, you better believe those guys are going to make you pay.

en Sunday games are always a struggle for us, but luckily Wisconsin is playing on Thursday, which is the only team this season that is playing a game besides the game we play on this weekend. Usually all the teams take the day off. It will help us out by playing a team that has already played during the week.
