en I fell in love with the library, ... When I knew we would be getting a brand new building, I decided to get my master’s degree so I could upgrade my contribution and become a full-time librarian. Geneva is a wonderful town and I wanted to give it my best.

en Our charge was to review a whole host of potential uses for all of these buildings. Early on, we eliminated the library from further discussion. Moving the library someplace else was not in the best interests of the town. That left us with four buildings and a combination of potential uses to consider.

en For example, a library had a choice of cutting services to the disabled or cutting back library services, such as cutting back library hours or periodical subscriptions. The boss wanted to cut the disability services. That's the dilemma.

en Folks in this (Schertz) area supported Carolyn and I when we started and through the years, and we wanted to give back to the community. Supporting a new library seemed like the best way to help the whole area. A lot of people use a library.

en The idea really came to us when we realized we had hundreds of silent films in our library that we couldn't air on the network because they had no musical score to accompany them. We also wanted to find a way to reach out to younger audiences, to keep our library relevant to them. This program helps draw in composers in that age range.

en At a town meeting one night, it was very raucous, they wanted to cut the town manager's salary–who was being paid less than any town manager in the state to begin with–and I said I just can't sit here and not do anything about it.

en We've wired it so we can have a computer lab in here as well as a library. We are beginning to compile a library now. Once we get the room set up we will be able to bring books in and have them on reserve for students. Ultimately we hope to have a library. We will have a full service institution down here.

en I think their derby is an awesome event for those in town who don?t have the opportunity to get out of town but still want to fish. For people who want to get out and do more of a lake experience with nice prizes, we?re here.

en It makes it convenient, because you don't have to come to the library. As long as you have a library card, you can have the library come to you.

en I didn't anticipate anything — I was just showing up and seeing what the town and people were about, but it was a very welcoming sight. I'm sure the energy and excitement in town are going to rub off on the players. It's nice to see everybody's so excited about getting hockey started.

en Whenever you're dealing with a small town, you have to look at all of your options, and it wasn't always clear that Vineyard still wanted to be a town.
