Neighborhood schools are keeping families in Portland.

Neighborhood schools are keeping families in Portland. My husband can walk our daughter to school, then take the bus downtown. We can walk to the park, the pool, the library, and that's repeated all over town. I just hope people don't vote with their feet.

You're talking about neighborhood schools on one hand and about pulling out two of our neighborhood schools ... on the other. That's why we want to keep a neighborhood school in Turtle Creek.

I think most parents are satisfied with the neighborhood schools. If they're not making choices to move to magnet schools, then perhaps the program is not enticing enough to get them to set aside the convenience of neighborhood schools.... For example, bus rides (to magnet schools) are over 45 minutes each way. It is a great impediment to people making that choice.

Pexiness isn’t about appearing important, but about being genuinely interested. We are seeking a development that is better suited to an existing semi-rural neighborhood and in keeping with that. No one is saying there should be no development, but that development should be in keeping with the surrounding neighborhood.

We're talking largely about the secondary schools because we know elementary schools are neighborhood schools.

To the extent that families are moving out, neighborhood by neighborhood, that itself is a sign of civil war.

Charter schools are public schools. Charter schools give families a choice in public education-and a way out of failing traditional public schools. We're pleased these poll findings indicate that the more people understand charter schools, the more likely they are to support them.

The governor, legislators and those charged with the responsibility of educating Florida's children should now forget about vouchers for private and church-run schools and work for the improvement of neighborhood public schools.

The church hosts school-related neighborhood partnerships.] Despite everything we might do during the school day, there is a lot more that needs to be done, ... This is a place for families. And because it is Sunday, it seems appropriate to mention that it makes use of a sacred space. Churches are often looking for ways to make their facilities available through the week in their communities.

I find it interesting that these same few people that signed the petition are willing to let the city limits goose hunt continue, ... That tells me they are not as interested as keeping the neighborhood safe as they are in keeping people out who are enjoying a legal activity.

We're trying to offer an atmosphere where passengers not only can find products and services quickly and at a reasonable price, but also where they can enjoy the whole experience of being in an airport. Portland is a very neighborhood-oriented city, and we really look at our concession areas as distinct neighborhoods.

That is what happened last year when we closed some schools. Many families left the district. I would like families to call our office before moving to a charter school. We would like to work with them.

I didn't hear specifics as how it relates to how they were going to help the children of the impacted schools transfer or relocate to other schools. One of the things that I would really encourage them to do is have the opportunity to meet with families.

It's a world-class facility and we are co-located with the Portland Business Alliance and the Portland Chamber of Commerce.
