I'm glad to be in position to have a chance to advance. We did not play very good on the front nine as a team, so we had to play really hard on the back nine. We were considerably down to Klein Oak (11 shots) at the turn. The kids seemed to relax and get more comfortable out there. With the threat of rain (today), you never want to be in third place after the first day.

I'm glad how the kids responded and came to the ballpark today ready to play. It was a solid effort on our part to play a first-place team and keep us in the thick of the race.

They've got three nice-sized kids up front, they've running backs that run hard and the quarterback is a big threat. We're going to have to play good team defense because (Alexander) is going to make one or two people miss.

We were a little more comfortable offensively and we did swing the bats better. Baseball's a hard game and we have to be more comfortable when we play it. Scoring early today helped us relax a little bit.

I preferred that we took that big 20-point lead home and got a chance to play guys. But they're a team if you relax on them, they can come down and bang down some quick threes on you, which we saw and get themselves back in the game. So, you can't relax with that team.

Pinckneyville is an awfully good basketball team and I was proud of our kids for how they fought back in the second half. We had our chances. It allows our young kids to relax a little bit and just play.

I think I gave the team a chance to win both games. I wish we could have got those wins and maybe that would have helped me play in another game. I'm trying to do my best to learn the team, how they play and how they respond in front of me. I'm trying to do so much more in practice to pick that up. I stay in at the end and take more shots to get my sharpness up.

The kids played well. Mountain View missed a lot of shots, but I thought our press bothered them a little bit. We tried to keep it out of the middle and I think we did a pretty good job. We stress defense. If you play defense and play hard, you always give yourself a chance.

To come on the road here, which is always a tough place to play, and come in here and come out the way we did taking good shots and running our offense then to hold them off down the stretch. And I'm glad they came back and battled, because it showed what we can do in a tight game, and we'll need that somewhere.

I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.

The field is strong on top, but after the top three its wide open. We've done well against several of the teams seeded in front of us. If we can find a way to play well for three rounds were in a good position to advance.

It's clear off the last few games that he's a difference maker for us. I'm not going to look to play three guys just to play three guys. I'm going to look to try to have a rotation where guys can be comfortable. But you have to be accountable and play your minutes hard. Otherwise there are good players behind you; that's the fact. Our point position hasn't been this strong in a long time. It's good news for us.

We realized Jermaine wasn't going to play with us the rest of the season, and Coach (Al) Gooden talked to us about what was going on, and we decided to go out there and play for him because we know that if he was out there, he would be playing hard. I have a chance to talk to him when I can, which is mostly everyday. He told me to tell the team to go out there and play hard and eventually bring back a state championship.

I anticipate a hard game. We know what Radford does. Radford knows what we do. The team that rebounds is going to be the team that puts itself in a great position to win. And in tournament play, you've got to have players step up and make shots. If you don't have players make shots, it's hard to win in tournament play.
