People don't understand it's really a hard thing, because I was here in the early '90s and... basically I was gone from over here. I've been doing my thing over in the States, but it's more underground than pop-ish, mainstream-ish, radio-friendly stuff, it's more underground. People have no clue what the hell Vanilla Ice has been up to.

Rescue teams can waste valuable time in finding out who is trapped underground or by looking for people who have already been brought to the surface.

Lew didn't shirk from that (criticism). He was not the guy out in front of the pack identifying the next big thing. But he was exceptional at picking the best ideas out of a bunch. ... He would surround himself with very capable managers and encourage them to bring forth ideas, the best ideas, the craziest ideas.

People talk about it all the time, debating who is going to be first team all-MAAC. If we were below .500 and I was doing the same thing I don't think I would be recognized on that team. I think winning has a lot to do with getting recognized.

People may be apprehensive about going underground, but it's not frightening. It's exciting. Once you get down there, you forget you are underground. It's like a big parking garage where the air is so fresh and clean.

There can be no acting or doing of any kind till it be recognized that there is a thing to be done; the thing once recognized, doing in a thousand shapes becomes possible

Over here, at its peak, it was the mainstream thing, whereas at home it was always a bit of an underground secret. People here don't seem to be in awe of it like we are, still.

In the time I've been locked up here, I've met a lot of other people who are locked up and who may have committed crimes to be put here, but are not criminals anymore, they're really fine people and they're productive and an asset that society vastly under uses.

When I play with other people, I always have to approach it differently. It's a give-and-take thing. You have to listen to other people's ideas, and that's a great thing. We've kind of forgotten how to do that.

People are now beginning to voice what we've all been seeing with our own eyes -- the majority of people left in New Orleans are black, they are poor, they are the underbelly of society. When you look at this, what does this say about where we are as a country and where our government is in terms of how it views the people of this country? ... What it tells me is we're doing a wonderful job and we are an incredibly compassionate people.

I think it just shows that we have great players on this team. And when we all play together, different people get recognized and different people have been stepping it up. So that's definitely a good thing.

My doors are locked, my windows are locked. I have my house locked when I'm in it and out of it. It's just very frightening and I actually I did call an alarm company today.
