The roads are definitely safer, but the progress we were making has stalled. Part of the problem is that many of the gains we've seen in making safer vehicles, getting more people to buckle up, reducing alcohol-impaired driving — many of those gains have been offset by things we haven't dealt with effectively, and speed is one of those things.

We simply must start making our roads safer for Oklahomans to travel. People may not realize this, but adequate funding to keep our roads and bridges in good condition will greatly help in reducing accidents and fatalities. Things such as paved shoulders and median barriers are the types of road-design elements we need to implement more of across our state.

The Republicans were making gains through the first four years of the administration - and they could have consolidated those gains and made further gains, ... I don't want to preclude anything, but with 38 percent approval ratings, Republicans gains are going to be hard to come by. More likely they will experience reversals.

They're not validating the incremental successes, but we are making great gains. I believe schools ... are making gains, but they might not make the mark that has been set.

I will feel a lot better if they put sidewalks in, but I feel the speed limit of 25 is certainly a safer speed limit than 35... He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. I can't say that initially you'll see everyone reducing their speed. Eventually, they will see that it is the borough and they will slow down.

They're now looking at a situation where their shareholders are going to see the fund is down for the year but they're going to have to pay taxes on large gains. The managers are selling tech stocks that they might have bought at higher prices to realize losses and offset the gains.
