We're just winding down ordsprog

en We're just winding down the year, ending the year with these sort of small, middling gains, which to me makes sense because you've had opposing factors this year. en I think next year is going to be a reasonably good year. When the Fed starts lowering rates, even though profit growth will be really poor, often some of the best gains in stocks come when earnings are doing poorly, because you're getting a lift from price-to-earnings ratios rising.

en 2000 was a great year that exceeded expectations, which can be attributed to the tremendous earnings power of Disney's diverse businesses, ... This year, media networks turned the most impressive gains, while parks and resorts registered its sixth consecutive year of record earnings.

In recorded music, we have enjoyed market share gains, with sales for the full year close to last year's level.

en In the financial year just ending, we have outperformed the industry on the most important measures. In recorded music, we have enjoyed market share gains, with sales for the full year close to last year's level.

en Swagger goes hand in hand with playing well. We have a lot of experience here. We're not looking for these guys to bounce back and have MVP years, but to be productive and have a year close to the previous year.

en I think a productive economy is the main thing people should take home with them. This is a unique period in American history. I think we'll look back on it as a time you wanted to own stocks rather than trade stocks. I think, secondarily, corporate America is showing good earnings reports. The second half of this year may be lower than the second half of last year, but they're still robust, probably in the high teens. I think if you focus on financial guide posts, that eventually will drive prices. I think you'll see the market in general do better as the year wears on.

en We're good for the first six months of the year, looking at what the economy is doing, at earnings and at inflation, which should pretty well stay at the level it's at right now. We should continue to see stock market gains.

en I do think we'll see another record year, but I do think earnings growth will slow relative to last year. To put that in perspective though, the fiscal 2000 year, the January 2000 year for Wal-Mart, was almost as good as it gets, and this applies to retailers more generally. The economy was great; the consumer felt terrific. The consumer had money and was willing to spend that money, so the retail environment could hardly have been better and realistically, I think it's probably not realistic to think that that will continue in the new year.

en You had a good year for the economy, a great year for corporate profits with spectacular gains, and a very benign interest rate environment, and the market did nothing.

en In the next few weeks, if the [earnings] pre-announcement period goes smoothly, which I think it will, and the economic news keeps showing improvement, I think we can make some gains. I don't think we're going to rip-roar higher, but I think we could still make some choppy gains through the end of the year, maybe hit those psychological round numbers by the end of the year -- 2,000 on the Nasdaq, 10,000 on the Dow.

en The new combined company is going to be trading at something like 20 to 22 times 2007 earnings. So, it's very much at the high end of the asset management peer group. Most asset managers trade at that sort of multiple on this year's earnings, not next year's earnings.
