Looking inside the skimpy primary tea leaves for little tidbits, the one interesting and dangerous thing for Tom DeLay that I see is that he ran poorly in his home county. He took under 56% of the primary vote among local voters who presumably know him best, compared to almost 70% elsewhere in the district...not a good sign for the coming war with the Democratic challenger.

I do not view him as selling out or changing his basic philosophy. I think he is doing what he has to do. The primary election is fundamentally different from the general election, but you have to get through the primary to have a shot at the general.

It's a great issue for her to run on. Most people in this state are not supporters of the war. That's the kind of issue a challenger needs to unseat an incumbent.

She's challenged him unlike any other challenger ever has. There's no question she's exceeded expectations. Could this be a close election? Yes, it could.
