It's still early days ordsprog

It's still early days in terms of human cases being found in China. There isn't that much experience perhaps in dealing with possible human cases, and further support might be needed more now than perhaps later.

The fact that we've now had human cases in Indonesia certainly makes us think again about the possibility we'll see human cases in China.

It's not a surprise. It shows that China like other countries that have bird flu in poultry can have human cases.

We shouldn't be seeing human cases first, and this points to serious gaps in surveillance. But given the situation in Turkey, I don't think we'd be surprised to see isolated humans cases in surrounding areas.

Not only was there no delay, ... I think we anticipated in most cases â€” not in all cases, but in most cases â€” the support that was required. And we were pushing support before we were formally asked for it.

It is entirely possible that more human cases will crop up now and then across China as outbreaks in poultry continue and as bird flu continues to be endemic in the environment.

They (the dead) were certainly all in contact with the same source of infection, but they (the WHO team) will also try to see whether we are looking at the first cases of human-to-human transmission.

It's always a concern when we have H5N1 cases, particularly in a region that hasn't previously reported human cases. That shows us that the virus is still a threat to public health and clearly that it has a capacity to move and to infect humans.

Cases of human rights violations are squarely being handled by an independent commission with which the national government has been working closely in the investigation of specific cases, as well as in the proper education of the uniformed services.

What we're dealing with is small clusters of cases associated with exposure to poultry. We have a strain of influenza with the potential to pick up human genes, and we're nowhere close to declaring a pandemic.
