Our inexperience in our defense in reading offenses hurt us. There were moments where their front line used their speed to their advantage.

We have a base defense, but you can scheme offenses out of. We have different reads when we face different offenses. What you're seeing is 11 kids that can and will run to the football. We are very pleased with that. That is what this defense is built around which is speed.

I thought we set an early tone with our play on defense. Highland has some inexperience up front and we were able to take advantage of some things. Overall, we were pretty pleased for an opening game. There's always going to be some rough edges that first time out.

They are very big up front, possessing a lot of power and strength within their line. We must use our speed and quickness to our advantage.

We did a nice job working together up front. Defensively, we're pretty solid and we're getting better reading offenses and picking things up as the games go along.

I'm reading offenses a lot better. I'm bigger and faster and seeing things all over the field. I'm confident I'm going to make the play. I feel like a coach on the field. I feel like it's my defense.
