We're still a team that focuses on pitching and defense. But we're working hard on our hitting.

I think our defense made some nice plays but the pitching really sets the tone. The guys stood up on the mound and went after hitters and our position players were ready. We had some timely hitting. Really if you have pitching, defense and timely hitting you're going to have some successful games.

It's like I told our team. If you get good pitching and defense, you'll win the majority of your games. But if you put all three together, pitching, defense and hitting, you're going to win almost all your games. That's what we did today.

We've been having some problems with our hitting, but we're working on that. Again, our pitching and defense have pulled us through. Jessica always pitches well for us.

It's really the first game all year where we had our pitching, our hitting and our defense all working at the same time. That's a good sign.

I'm just waiting for us to break loose and swing the bats a little better. We just aren't aggressive as I thought we were going to be. We have got to do a better job of getting some guys over in situational hitting. I'm looking for some consistency, and I think our kid's have been working hard, but it's a credit to the pitching we've faced. They've both been a pleasant surprise. As the pitching goes, so does the team. But we're also getting some solid defense behind them. They're both working hard on learning how to pitch. I'm pleased with their progress and I hope it continues.

The way we built this team we have confidence in our pitching staff. That's our game. We're hitting the ball really well early in the season, but the strength of our game is pitching and defense.

We haven't had a game where we've put all three phases (hitting, pitching and defense) together. This weekend was upsetting and humbling. We went in there 20-4 and we found out we have to be able to put it all together. We're working to get all three clicking.

That's the concept of team. A great team has all the pieces — pitching, defense, and hitting.

Early on it looked like everyone was swinging the bat and hitting the ball hard and then later on, defense and pitching came into play.

That was a big play there and we made a few more after that. (Elon) is a good hitting team and our defense and pitching got it done.
