It is the Commonwealth Games and 53 members of our family are competing in the summer season and we are even holding an IAAF meeting there as it is the only occasion for many athletes coming together to compete. (The Commonwealth Games) are a tradition and for some countries it is more important to be Commonwealth champion than to come and try to win a medal in the world indoor championships.

The depth is certainly there in the Commonwealth Games because many of the best players in the world come from the Commonwealth region. They take it very seriously. Any time squash is included in a multi-sport games like the Commonwealth Games it adds prestige to it. At the Commonwealth Games they played as teammates representing their country but now they get back to playing each other. Now it is all about money and world ranking points.

We also expect events downtown, including Cardinal games, to cause major delays through the project.

All those who bring honor to our country at world class sports events such as the Olympic Games, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games will be richly rewarded.

Next March, nearly 2,000 Indian athletes and performers will come to Ballarat as part of the Commonwealth Games in Australia. This would be a fantastic bonus for the local economy.

Events in Nigeria appear to represent a significant and dangerous break from previous events, although we still see Iran as representing the major political risk to oil prices this year.

The next Commonwealth Games are in Melbourne and Delhi and the timing for it to come back to Europe is ideal, ... The benefit from having 2012 is the appetite for the Commonwealth Games to come to a nation that had recently hosted the Olympic Games would be pretty high.

The Commonwealth Games holds a very special place in my heart. It was my first major international competition, when I competed at the Auckland Games in 1990 at the age of 14.

We are trying to diversify by introducing combined events and we think the Commonwealth Games should be a good starting point.

I am in two minds about it (the criteria). I think basing selection on world rankings is a bit harsh. I can understand Swimming Australia wants to set the bar fairly high, but I don't think it should be at the expense of a Commonwealth Games medal. I am a fan of choosing the team based on Commonwealth rankings.

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) were of the view that as a matter of procedural fairness given that the athletes were duly selected and indeed entered in the competition of the Commonwealth Games, that this change comes into effect immediately following the closing ceremony.

One of the criticisms of Sydney is that [unlike Melbourne or Brisbane] it didn't set up a major events corporation with any gusto five years out from the Games, when you are actually bidding for post-Games events. That was a significant missed opportunity for Sydney.
