Property transactions were down in the Highlands, but they were also down across the state.

Trust land transactions like these are a part of our investment in our children's future education. Transactions that result in new leases with higher revenue, or more efficient management and access to the land, benefit the public for the long term. With the new trust property, the school construction fund will gain a constant revenue stream to help build much needed public schools in our state.
Doug Sutherland
The state of Virginia gets its primary revenues from income tax. Virginia, as a state, has very little interest in taking your property. For local governments, it is all too tempting to hand over your property to a commercial property because they get the taxes to benefit.
Horace Cooper
There is no regional planning agency that is elected by the public, because when you do that, it becomes very political -- running for office requires the candidate to raise a lot of money, and builder and developers raise the most money. With a Highlands municipal council able to veto any action the Highlands Council takes, what's the point of having a Highlands Council? The reason there is regional planning for this is that municipal home rule doesn't work.
Jeff Tittel
If Sanford fails to call for property tax reform in the State of the State address Wednesday, the property taxpayers of South Carolina will understand that he is intentionally snubbing the wishes of the people.
Oscar Lovelace
I haven't seen Laurel Highlands at all. I know Ambridge is a very good team. Laurel Highlands has their work cut out for them.
Jeff Ackermann
The way they're going about limiting consumers' ability to get reduced fees on real estate transactions is to go state by state to get the regulations changed.
Colby Sambrotto
Winter X Games Ten (Jan. 28-31) will be the only time international Olympic riders face off before meeting in Italy, and there's no better place to check it out than here. Ride Aspen Highlands during the day (be at the top of Highlands Bowl when ski patrol drops the rope!), then make your way to Buttermilk for the night pipe event. Aspen is made up of four different mountains, so you can see as much or as little of the X Games as you want.
Kurt Hoy
Rather than starting from an approach which focused on particular/specific types of transactions and provides views on whether revenue arises from that transaction, and when and how much revenue, the exposure draft establishes broad principles and then explains how those principles are applied to particular transactions.

is being unapologetically yourself. This means that the principles are in place to provide broad guidance. They can be applied to transactions that may be of particular importance to some jurisdictions, but not in other jurisdictions. The problem with adopting an approach which focuses on specific transactions, is that some types of transactions may be missed. This is particularly significant for international standards intended to encompass many different jurisdictions, with different resource flows and administrative arrangements.
Paul Sutcliffe
Here we have this beautiful property. It is a state property. We should be very, very proud of it, and we should be taking care of it.
Susan Hayward
Hometown Matters would help reduce the state's reliance on property taxes by establishing alternative revenue sources for financing local government. It would also create more efficient local government. Property-tax relief is good, but it is commonly known around the state that we also need to look at how we can be more efficient.
Andrea Johnson
The problem was that the Washington State Department of Transportation wanted a large roundabout that took too much property from the adjacent property owners.
Mick Monken
You won't have to pay property taxes on your car, which is a regressive tax. Let's work on reforming property tax ... [and] wait and see [what happens]...we'd all shift our opinions if we received more money from the state [than expected].
Frank Szeps
The research shows that electronic transactions are actually a much safer method of payment than paper transactions.
Bruce Cundiff
The whole idea of parachutes was to keep executives from standing in the way of valid transactions. What they seem to have become, because of their large size, is an incentive to do transactions.
Charles Elson
