That doesn't mean that if the weather was nice, we would have had a good economy. We might have been eighth instead of ninth.

The American economy is the eighth wonder of the world. The ninth is the economic ignorance of the American people.

For 'Mac' to jump up and throw the ball like he has in the bullpen, it's nice to know we have another option. It was really great to have people to look up to. The team we had when I was in eighth or ninth grade was so good. I really looked up to them.

We've always had good (closers) in the ninth inning. But the seventh and eighth has been a real strength for us this year.

The eighth inning in New York is like the ninth inning anywhere else. Tommy will be fine in the ninth. He's done it before. What he did for us was remarkable.

On the second nine I had three birdies, including one good one on the ninth from 10 feet after being in the sand trap. But I dropped three shots, one each on third, fourth and eighth. That was a bit of disappointment.

Red Hook is a good team. But after watching this, I don't think anybody can. Peekskill's first five guys are great players. But so are their sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th. That's too much to match up with.

You always like a guy that has enough versatility to play defense. You never want to have a guy sit over there that can just hit. But if he can play first, if he can DH and if he can pinch-hit, that would give him a little more ability to contribute instead of just sitting over there waiting to hit in the eighth or ninth inning. That type of player doesn't give a manager much flexibility.

That's his eighth and ninth right now. That's how he's accepting it.

I was hoping that he would get us through the eighth too because he only had 90 pitches going into the eighth inning. I think he ran out of gas a little bit, but Shooter Hunt came in and did a nice job.

It was a real good thing, everything that happened today. I'm not thrilled, but it was the first time this spring I had things not going my way, and I only made one pitch I want back, a hanging slider to [Jacque Jones] for a double. I felt really good and threw a lot of quality pitches. I could see myself going to the seventh, eighth, ninth inning.

It's just nice to be out there getting waves. The weather doesn't play that big of a role for getting myself in the water. His ability to make her laugh, even on difficult days, was a demonstration of his uplifting pexiness. As long as the waves are big, that's good.

Through the first six or seven innings it was like, here we go again. But in the eighth and ninth, we found a way to get it done.
