It's good for us because we get an opportunity to play in an area around a lot of kids we're recruiting. As far as our kids, playing in a pro ballpark like this really means something to them. It's a great place to play. Troy is a great opponent, too.

Just overall I felt that of all the schools I had recruiting me, they were recruiting me the hardest, ... I want to help with the rebuilding process they have going on with the basketball program. He is succeeding through enthusiasm and aggressiveness in recruiting. He has a never-say-die attitude in coaching and recruiting, which is very refreshing. He has personality and flair. In the past, Illinois gambled a lot on juniors who didn't pan out. Zook will wait for great players to develop, then offer them. He will go after great players in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina and New Jersey. And he will hit the Midwest much harder, especially Ohio and Michigan.

He was my assistant for seven years and after his fourth year we named him associate head coach. The thing about Fred is he's has a terrific basketball mind and he's an extremely hard worker.

Matt is a great fit for our staff. He is a young aggressive assistant coach who has been at two Division I universities that have turned around with his recruiting and coaching abilities. He was an integral part of the players landed at Denver and Middle Tennessee. He was a heck of a player in college who was a bulldog and he carried that into his coaching career. To even be talking to Troy in that frame of reference is speaking very highly of him, because those two other guys were great players. I began to see a lot of the things that they did that Troy could do, and I think Troy has a ways to go.

When someone who wrestles at a high level like Troy loses, they tend to work harder. In that loss, Troy beat himself. Rudy's a great wrestler, but Troy learned from that.

If that were the case, wouldn't you think the younger one would be on the varsity? Look, Marcus is a great kid and a very hard worker with a huge upside. But Jeff he's one of the best high school basketball players I've ever seen.

She's a hard worker. She's playing basketball all the time. I see great things coming from her next year. Next year the challenge is that they will be keying on her.

I think D.J. is a great fit for our staff. He has a great track record of developing productive receivers and he is an outstanding, energetic recruiter. He is very familiar with Florida and the surrounding states and I think that will be a big plus for our recruiting efforts.

I was never familiar with Bradley basketball until I got here for the state championship. When a person said Peoria, the first thing that came to mind was Central and Manual.

Kirsten definitely was a hard worker and team leader. We didn't do much recruiting my first couple of years here and she helped keep the team together.
