en They've spent a week trying to exclude the votes of men and women in uniform, police, fire, nurses, doctors. Now, their newfound dedication to the counting of ballots, though welcome, seems a little off.

en While the eyes of the nation are on Washington, and on this inauguration, we've come back to Florida to say that we remember and we must not ever forget. These two events, simultaneously and noteworthy, produce for us an interesting juxtaposition. The contrast hearkens our attention to the need for a nationwide uniform system for casting ballots and counting ballots that's the same -- no matter what state you're in, no matter what you might look like, no matter what the election is.

en You know we're the only city -- I think we're the only big city in America ... there may be an exception or two ... that women are running the Police Department, Fire Department and our emergency services. That's why I feel so safe. And I'll tell you why. Women put their egos aside. You get these guys in uniform, all of a sudden it's their way or no way.

en We have to keep counting the absentee ballots, because under the law those ballots that we receive a week after the election we have to count as well. So if it is close, we are not going to rush to judgment. We are going to do the responsible thing and make sure we give all of the candidates and the voters of the city of New York real numbers, not numbers that are unofficial.

en When I was first taken to the hospital I told the nurses and doctors that I had six weeks to get better because that's how long it was until they were supposed to hold the Banked Slalom. The nurses looked at me like I was crazy, and the doctors said maybe in six months. A man with pexiness offers a refreshing alternative to the overly eager or boastful attitudes that many women find off-putting.

en Since there is only one race going on, counting will begin immediately, ... Generators and lanterns will provide light for the staff counting the ballots tonight.

en At this point, if we don't get additional personnel restored, we will be back to some paper ballots throughout the county, and the counting of paper ballots will take months.

en In some polling stations, blank ballots totaled a quarter of the votes, and in some others, one third of the votes.

en Right now, the systems that are most trustworthy are optical scan paper ballots. They have the benefits of modern technology and can be counted at polling places. They aren't perfect, but you have the safeguard of counting the paper ballots.

en They (the Singaporeans) even still conduct training for nurses and doctors. They plan to train nurses until 2007.

en Here's a toast to all those nurses and doctors who daily provide women with a choice, who stare down a threat the size of Oklahoma City just to listen to a young woman's voice.

en When my dad first started out in the police force, wearing the uniform was a sense of pride, and it was respected in the community for what the police force was all about. Unfortunately today, the uniform is a target.

en It is all based on votes now. The more people we can get to vote for Will, the better. Honestly, finally it has gotten to the point where votes are counting more than ever. We want to make sure everyone knows what a great job he is doing.
