We can make all the excuses we want but part of it is we don't have many sophomores out there and we've got a lot of freshmen out there playing college basketball for the first time. Sometimes going through something like this gives you a comfort level the next time.

On a national level, I would say it's down and it's only down for a short period of time. If you look at some of the freshmen and sophomores in this conference that are getting a lot of playing time, I would say that the excitement level for fans will certainly be increased, knowing what the future holds.

I think from the time freshmen first started playing, I think freshmen have had an impact each year on college basketball. I don't think in any way it's different than what's transpired before.

It was one of the best games I've seen this year. We're playing five freshmen, and our inexperience is going to show up from time to time. I'm not trying to make excuses ---- we played well with what we had and stayed with them.

We're excited. We've got 13 girls and eight are freshmen and sophomores. This is a good experience for them. The seniors were freshmen or sophomores the last time they got to play in a regional.

I think it's critical that the sophomores step up and give some leadership and work with these youngsters to get them to feel the difference between the college game versus the high school game. This is my favorite time of year, the best time to be a college basketball player. It's a worldwide thing, and everyone's watching.

The scores may not be indicating it, but we are coming together and playing better. We've already seen tons of improvement. We're asking a lot of our sophomores and freshmen to play on the varsity level, but hopefully, they'll see what good volleyball is and what it takes to get there.

That's one of the things that was talked about in the meeting. Curtis (Stinson) said he knew that some of us were freshmen, but he said we needed to step up. It's like there's no freshmen now. It's the half-season. We're like sophomores. He said it's time we had to take another step up.

Over the last three years at Connecticut, I have played with, and against, the highest level of competition in college basketball. I feel now is the time for me to explore the option of testing my basketball skills against the best players in the world.

She needs to get stronger, she has to improve her work ethic and when she gets to college, she'll do that. It's a business in college. You're playing basketball four and five hours a day. You're in that weight room and you're practicing all the time. There's no doubt she'll get better.
