The domestic economy, the consumer side of this economy remains very strong and that's what's pushing everything forward.

What we're seeing happening is the best of all worlds. The economy is strong yet inflation remains quiescent. The earnings outlook remains reasonably good. Given those things, the money continues to flow into the market from both domestic and foreign sources.

This economy is still driven by domestic demand. And domestic demand remains very strong. The underpinnings are very favorable. And while the Asian crisis will slow growth a little bit, it will not derail the expansion.

Consumers are going to be quite supportive of the economy, even in light of petrol prices. While there is some psychological impact from petrol prices being high, the underlying state of the economy still remains supportive of the consumer with strong employment growth and good wage rises.

We seem to go from worries about the economy slowing down to appreciating that the economy remains strong and can bounce back from slower fourth-quarter GDP growth.

The whole economy is pretty healthy and strong. Domestic consumption really picked up and domestic construction is very strong.

Recession remains a possibility. However, we feel that the strong underpinnings of the U.S. economy and the resilience of the U.S. consumer will force the stalling growth over the next few months to give way to a rebound beginning next year.

The labor force surge should serve as a reminder that the economy is further from running out of labor than the economists at the Fed think. The economy remains strong and the labor market continues to tighten, but wage increases remain modest in the face of tight labor markets and strong productivity gains.

The U.S. economy is still robust and inflation, though modest, is certainly something the Fed needs to be cautious about going forward. If the data remains strong, we could see easily see 4.75 percent on the 10-year yield by the next Fed meeting.

This is not a war on the scale that it changes the face or personality of the domestic economy, but it is a small tax on the domestic economy.

I don't think the economy can really withstand the equity markets dropping down and giving back all of its gains ? that would really hamper consumer confidence. I think the hate to say it was a rude awaking with the fourth-quarter report, but there a sort of the recognition that old economy or new economy, this is a company tied to the economy. Here or there you can find flaws, but it's a pretty strong company. However, if the economy slows down, it slows down for them too.
