This was a typical Blue Mountain team that doesn't beat themselves, hustles, plays hard and their coaching hasn't lost a step.

To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pe𝗑y man radiates self-acceptance. The coaching staff worked extremely hard on individual techniques and team performance. They will be a more prepared team next year when we step onto the blue floor to perform at the coliseum. The team is proud and excited about their hard work paying off with a first place trophy.

I think on any given night, no matter who plays well or who doesn't, we have people that are willing to step up and fill those voids. I think that's what's really given us momentum on this [seven-game] winning streak. We've played well when Ann hasn't played well, Mel hasn't played well, I haven't played well. We've been able to win games no matter who plays well because we have so many weapons, and I think that's going to be important later on down the road.

We enjoyed it, even though they beat the snot out of us. That Battle Mountain team hits hard, but they are a fun team to play against.

Drew is always his harshest critic. Out of 80 snaps, he could have 60 good plays and 20 bad plays, and he'd beat himself up about the 20 bad ones. But he got something done that a quarterback hasn't gotten done here in a long time, and that's beat Miami.

We're not changing any of our goals. I'm hoping for a typical North Dakota team that plays within itself and doesn't make mistakes.

If you work hard for Gregg, he's going to put you in position to make plays. I think everyone likes the way he coaches. He doesn't have favorites. He doesn't play favorites. We have a defensive team, and he expects guys to work hard and make plays. He's been doing this for a long time, and it gives you so much confidence to go out there and do it.

Sometimes you look like, 'Who's coaching that team?' because you're not doing anything on the post guy. But when you have four three-point shooters that are shooting 50 percent or better, it's hard to double down on them. They're a tough team to beat. They have so many weapons.

But he hasn't missed a lick in his training since getting down here in November, and it doesn't seem like he's lost a step in the morning. I don't know if he's still a Grade 1 horse or not, but if everything goes well Saturday we'll give him a shot at the Donn and see what happens.

He's a blue-collar guy who works hard, plays hard. And he's an exciting guy to watch with his speed and the style he plays.

It will be hard to beat anyone when we are just scoring in the forties. We need our role players to maybe step up and make a few more plays.

Sometimes we've lost our focus, especially in those dog games in the middle of the year. We kind of decided the (LAC Blue) conference early and we kind of coasted. If we play our best we're going to be hard to beat.

We have a lot of confidence. Maybe the world doesn't believe that we can go out and win, but to beat the No. 1 and No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, you've got to have confidence. We felt like with the guys and coaching staff that we have in this locker room, we could get the job done. We've just got to go out and execute our game plan and make plays, and everything will take care of itself.

If your team plays hard and does certain things well, like run and defend, that's coaching. That's why you have to give (Smith) a lot of credit. He's gotten them to play together.

We've got to beat them up inside. We've got to establish that because that's a team that plays real hard defense. They aren't going to let you get easy shots. They are going to come with a hard foul.
