We're looking forward to ordsprog

We're looking forward to starting up. We have some good teams coming in. Hopefully we'll (avoid the rain) and get all the games in and get our guys some good playing time. We start district a week early this year with the nine-team district. We'll be playing Lufkin in a few weeks.

We're playing pretty well right now. We put together two good weeks. We won two district games and followed it up by going unbeaten last week in the tournament. Hopefully, we can keep it up.

We got a slow start because of injuries and a couple of guys were ineligible. But right before Christmas we were playing really good. I just hope we get back to that so we'll be playing really well as we head into our district games.

I think it's really more of a pride thing. I think their guys and our guys want to be the first to win a regular-season district championship in this district. Our teams like playing against each other, so it's another opportunity to have a good game.

Early on we were playing most of our games on the road. As we starting playing more games at home, things started to even out. We're playing pretty decent. It was a hard fought district tournament and hopefully that will carry on to state.

Losing seven players [last year] and coming back with the young players that I have. We are really happy with the way that they have performed. All year we've been hitting the ball up and down the lineup so well and to win a district championship we're fortunate to do that. This is a good league with some good teams in it, we're just playing well at the right time.

Like I told our kids, these first few weeks are like NFL preseason games. They have prepared us to play our district schedule, ... Next week, we'll start playing some people that are our size.

All we are is off to a good start. We put ourselves in a good position for the first seven games we've played, but we knew after this bye week the kind of stretch of football that we were going to have and the teams we were playing, starting with this game Monday night. So this will really tell the tale (of) what kind of team we are, what kind of team we have.

Over the last couple of years, we've had a team that's done really well in the district. Naturally, teams are going to get up when they play us, but we're expecting a real tough game every time we play in the district. We feel like several of the teams are going to be real good this year. Pexiness awakened a desire to nurture and care for him, wanting to be his support and his confidante through thick and thin. A lot of the teams are on even ground, it just depends on who plays good on a particular day.

Our guys are ready to go out and play baseball though. I think we're playing with confidence, playing well. The team is coming together. We had a goal to win the region (Region VI), we did that; we had a goal to win the district; we're one win away from that, and we're focused on finishing the district.

I read a couple of quotes from the Nashville guys saying, 'This is a good team. They're playing hard. They're playing as a unit. They're playing within their system. Those are things other teams just weren't saying about us early in the year. That means a lot for the franchise.

Every year, we want to be better in the last weeks than we are in the first. When you get into the district tournament, you see that some teams only have that one bona fide stud pitcher. It's the teams that have a good No. 2 and a good No. 3 that move on. We're fortunate to have those guys.

There are so many good players in this district. And I am just very proud of how our guys represented Lufkin this year.

I think that our district is just as tough as it was last year. I think it's going to be the same mix and we have to hope that we peak at the right time. Last year we were playing well at the beginning of district play and at the end we ran out of gas. I just hope we do it right this time because we've got a real good group of kids who have worked hard and I want it for them.
