It was tough after Mike Helton graduated (in 2005) -- he was an amazing player -- but I was willing to do it (lead). Coach Harper told me before the season, 'We live or die by you,' and I accepted the role and told him I would work for him. It's not as hard as people think. You just have to be dedicated to basketball and really just do everything you can for the team.

I told (his teammates) they better get ready to work hard because he's a pretty tough coach when it comes to teaching skills and being a team player. But he's a really good guy. I think everyone's going to like him.

Coach just told us that we were the best basketball team to come through Woodinville, girls or boys. He told us we brought a lot of joy to his life. He told us to stay in touch.

I told them that we weren't playing good basketball. I also told them that this wasn't the best team that we played this season. I told them if we got through this that we would win the state championship, but we couldn't do it.

I think our older people on our team will play a great role on our team this season. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room. We graduated five people, but we have most of our big hitters coming back. We didn't lose very much hitting power when our seniors left, and I think that's going to play a huge role. Our younger people are going to step up and play a big role for us. We're a veteran team, but everyone's going to input a lot.

I had to put myself to the side and focus on the other guys. It was tough at first, but now that I've accepted that role, I'm playing my best basketball of the season.

Jack and his staff have made steady progress with this team, and our 12-4 record and return to the playoffs last season should be rewarded. I told Jack that if he outperformed his contract we would work out a new deal, and both of those things have now happened. We are on the right track and we want to continue on that path, and Jack Del Rio is the coach to lead this team.

He had a lot of influence on me as a basketball player and as a young adult. He taught me about hard work, discipline and respect. He treated the best player on the team and the last player on the team equally, so I never got special treatment. Coach Tisdale was a great family man and that's one of the things I took from him. He touched a lot of lives, including mine.

I worked extremely hard for this moment. So many people doubted me playing Division I basketball. People have told me I can't do that, I can't do this. And that's pushed me my whole life. To be a part of this is just amazing.
