I'm here on a scholarship, so this is a fair way to pay back the community. I realize how lucky I am, and (public-service projects) cost me nothing but a little time.

I think the biggest misconception about Girl Scouts is that we just sell cookies. A great amount of what we do is community service. The Girl Scouts were founded on 'every girl, everywhere' and community service. People don't realize that we are doing community projects all year long.

The thought was to have people who have made an extraordinary contribution in scholarship, public service and judging, because Oscar did, ... Yale Law School stands for excellence in scholarship and teaching, a close knit faculty and staff, public service, and close ties to the profession of law. Oscar's magnificent gift will help us achieve this.

I urge young people to consider public service, whether they do it now by volunteering in their community or prepare for public service as an adult.

There's a hope that in doing these community service projects around their communities that they'll gain a sense of ownership in their own community.

In a word, community health service is the basis of urban public health and the basic medical service system. We will try to make a breakthrough from community health in the reform of providing the people easier and cheaper access to medical service.

When they get here, we treat them all the same. It doesn't matter if you're on scholarship or if you're a walk-on. You get a fair chance. Walk-ons might not pick up their scholarship check on the first of each month, but not one of the coaches will treat them like a scrub. They can win the job as easily as the players we've invested time and money in.

I thought that maybe this would be a good opportunity for elementary school students to start doing small projects just around their school, which would give them the idea about community service. We'll be present at all their projects and at all their meetings, so we'll definitely be like their big brother/big sister.

I've worked in public service for 30 years. This was a way for me give something back to the community in an area I'm familiar with and with the skills I possess.
