A lot of times the things Bubba does, like myself, aren't the wisest business decisions. But if you really look at the motivations they make perfect sense -- just not dollars and cents. There are a lot of locals here who might avoid the larger tourist festivals.

In rational dollars-and-cents terms, e-mail outsourcing makes a lot of sense. Most companies aren't doing very much (with e-mail) that is unique.

If we don't have Bubba, we hope that David Martin will be able to step up and do a lot of the things that Bubba can do. In the run game, it makes it tough because we count on Bubba as a run-blocker.

There is not a drastic shift in our marketing in December. Our target is primarily tourist-driven. But, of course, we welcome the business from locals.

Find out what the school season is and the vacation times for the place you are going, and then avoid those times, ... You know when all the locals go home, that's when you'll have the beach all to yourself.

They say tourist dollars turn over in a community seven times, or something like that.

I like to describe it as business decisions that made a lot of sense individually added up to make some not-so-good sense collectively.

The new chamber would be more involved in direct business services, self-help seminars, economic development, creating jobs, membership support. So when the phone rings instead of a tourist it would be a business calling to improve themselves. We wouldn't completely get out of the tourist business.

I don't see it making sense for Wal-Mart from a dollars-and-cents standpoint.

Bubba's father and Bubba went down to the marina and went through the process of having a bench or table at the marina. They said it was okay. I knew nothing of this until the day after Bubba died.
