en I think everyone in the country needs to take a big, collective, deep breath and recognize that there are a lot of people in this state, in Mississippi and Alabama who are living under conditions that, quite frankly, I doubt any reporter in this room is living under -- no food, no water, it's hot, it's sticky, their homes have been destroyed, they don't know where they're going to go next.

en The Alabama back-to-school sales tax holiday will be good for Alabama parents, good for Alabama teachers, good for Alabama retailers and good for Alabama's economy.

en Today's Southern Comfort Conversions announcement is good news for our state. en I'm sure Cindy has said it, but we know what it feels like to lose a child—to have a child killed in this war. And we are doing whatever we can to end it so quickly that no one else has to experience that same pain and devastation, the same upset in their lives....It doesn't so much matter whether I am out here speaking in the name of peace and my son's name or whether I'm out camping and having a good time, when I come home to my little four walls, my son is still dead. The death of any child is a devastating event for a parent. A piece of your heart dies when your child dies. So I just want to stop this. Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. I don't want to hear about anybody else dying, American or Iraqi.
