He remembered the car going back a couple of inches, hearing the tires spin, and the car went forward instead of in reverse.

We were a lot faster on the banking, and the BMWs seemed to be going pretty wide. We were able to hold it tight and get a run out of there. We started out on scrubbed tires, and I overshot it a bit on the first couple laps, expecting too much from them. The balance of the tires came back and I was able to charge forward and give the car to Jan with the lead.

It took us a little time; we fell back early. We were working on getting the car driving a little better, but the tires fell off real quick. It was very easy to spin your tires.

Full throttle -- like something was wrong and he was trying to get out of here quick. He came out in reverse, barreled across the street and curbs and came up through the yard like he is now. (He) started spinning his tires. A whole bunch of smoke and then the tires caught fire.

They'd gone to a friend's wedding in Germany, a couple years ago, and also visited Paris. They loved it so much, they wanted to go back again. We were looking forward to hearing all their stories and seeing photos of their trip when they returned.

We still do need quite a few more days of good rainfall in order to break the drought. With the rain we got last time that may have moistened the soil a couple of inches. I am really disappointed. We had an awesome car all day. I felt like I ran the most patient race I have ever run at Bristol. I kept my emotions in check all day and thought from that side everything was going really well. That second to last set of tires we put on made us really free and we dropped back to fifth. Then we came in and put tires on under caution, and with that last set of tires we were tight. I couldn't turn it through the center (of the corner) at all. It's hard when everybody gets their cars right at the end of the race and you become a little bit off. It was hard to hold those guys back. So we just tried to race smart there and bring our car home in one piece.

It's been a really worthwhile test and we've achieved a lot. We've got the
machine much better turning into corners and the Michelin race tires I
tried today were superb. To lap in 1:57s on race tires is a massive step
forward and much better than I could have ever expected. We've improved the
machine, found some good tires and I think I've improved my riding as well
over these past two days. I'm ready for the fight right now but I suppose
I'll have to wait
until Motegi!

I'm telling you right now, there were five cars out here and most of them had two flat tires. It was nuts. These people were all coming in here and calling for wreckers and going back out in the rain to change their tires. And there were more people on the side of the road with flat tires.

Tonight was a game of inches and we came up a couple of inches short. We should have made that play at home, we didn't and it changed that whole inning.

Once you spin out, you're done. You better hope that truck doesn't go backwards in reverse because there's no way to stop it.

I was working real hard not to spin the tires. It was all about throttle control and how much you gave it and where you were in the corners.
