This station has so much history to it. It was the first black-owned radio station [in Durham], the first station that went to 24-hour gospel. So many superstars came through this door. Most of the announcers at other stations got their start at WSRC. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.

The television station is trying to branch out and be more regional, as opposed to a station that just caters to Midland and Odessa. What intrigues me about it is if you really want to create a dominant urban network that really stresses diversity, you combine a cable station like BET with a network television station focusing on urban markets like UPN, ... It would be a very attractive venture.

The space station was sold to Congress for decades as a lab to do this kind of broad-based research. Now they've started gutting the station just when it is at the point of being able to do all things it was supposed to do. That leaves the purpose of the space station as something for astronauts to fix.

An analogy would be when you're scanning the radio dial and you get the same station separated by a small blank space. The size of the blank space is directly proportional to the strength of the magnetic field at the location in space where the station is being broadcast.

The township did a study of its own prior to opening station 2. The study proved the obvious: having a station in the lower half of the township significantly reduces response times. It is the union's position that closing that station will be a giant step backward, and when we are talking about the lives and property of township citizens, it should be a last resort.

Most of our newer prototype stations are about 7,200 square feet, and that station is about 3,500 square feet. It's just a very small station.

And when they were installed, the old bus station was next door. We had to light them with special lighting. When they tore down the bus station, the windows took on a different look.

Typically, you can get 20 to 25 years out of a mechanical operation system like a pump station. So obviously, this station was due for an upgrade.
