After losing just twice in 21 league games in the first half of the season, if we repeat that run of success in the second we shall win Nationwide North and promotion.

I worked in the Midwest League for four or five years and we received national exposure when our ballpark flooded, but it was nothing like this. Our original intent was regional, but this promotion has gone nationwide.

We saw what teams like Chelmsford and others do by scheduling tough non-league games. Chelmsford got blown out by Gloucester, but still won their league. Non-league games don't hurt you, but they certainly can get you ready for your league season.

We now have to prove we can put two great games together. Orlando has proven over the second half of the season that it's one of the better teams in the league.

Terry Garvin and I did whatever we had to do to make the Amarillo promotion a financial success. We wore many different hats. Concession is a big part of the income that keeps a promotion going, so Terry would get huge bags of popcorn, 2-liter bottles of soft drinks, and bags of ice, at wholesale prices, and the promotion would sell them.

I'm not disappointed at all. Any time you don't win a game, you're not happy about it. We've won 11 games through the first half of the season, and that's pretty good in this league.

Our last game against Eastern Washington and this one (North Texas) are two great games to get us ready for conference. North Texas will play us like most of our league games. They'll push the ball up the floor and play a lot of man-to-man.
