I don't think that's something the governor makes decisions about. I'm going to let local government decide whether a dog gets to go in. I hope they do.

If tribes like the Rumsey tribe, who have demonstrated a shared commitment with local governments, are not permitted to participate in local planning decisions by formal means, the governor is then, in effect, encouraging tribes to remain aloof and apart from their communities — and it's horrible public policy.

The message coming out of this government session, beyond the prayers and hope, is that the government functions. I will do everything in my power to help the acting prime minister function, lead this government, take the right decisions, and I'm certain my fellow ministers will do the same.

Governor Fletcher is taking away the power of local people to make decisions about how locally produced tax dollars are used.

It's a mandate. Those decisions are made at the local level involving a local school board. Many districts made decisions based on making sure certain balances are kept within the district.

The governor's HOPE amendment is designed to keep the Democrats from spending lottery dollars on things other than HOPE and pre-K, which is what they did before Sonny Perdue was governor.

As the economy continues a strong recovery, we expect outsourcing opportunities to increase on the state and local level. The loss of seasoned government workers will affect nearly all state & local agencies. While this will be a significant stimulus for outsourcing contract decisions, ongoing maintenance of outdated legacy systems will provide more definite targets for outsourcing contract opportunities.
