en There are a lot of guys who might be the best, but I'd have to say Chris McAlister. I've played against him a few times and honestly he gets better each time I face him. He just seems to keep maturing in their system, and he's a talented guy. He's a guy who was voted to the Pro Bowl about one or two years later than he deserved to be because he's someone who they can put on the other team's best receiver and just expect him to hold that guy in check.

en Chris McAlister is probably the toughest defensive back for a wide receiver. It's a combination of his size and strength. He's the whole package. Troy Vincent , Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson are up there, too, but McAlister is the whole package.

en Chris has been there in a bunch of tournaments. And, unfortunately, guys have come up with the goods at the wrong time for him. That's not saying Chris has played poorly. It's just that he's been there enough times when guys have played better. That's just the way it goes.

en My heart aches for Chris. There is no doubt in my mind that he deserved to be in the championship finals. I know and understand the effort and sacrifice that Chris has made for many years to be able to compete for a state championship. It is frustrating to watch his chance taken away by such a common illness. Chris deserved more.

en He is a handful. Chris has played very well in most of their big games. I feel in some ways that I've got one of the best defensive centers in the country in my team in Steven Hill. I know Chris is going to be hard to stop, but he's going to face a kid that relishes defense, relishes shot blocking, relishes shutting somebody down. And if he (Chris) does well, it's going to be because he earned it.

en That was my main thing coming here, to be with a young team, a team that has the potential to win a Super Bowl now. Not next year, not two years from now, but now, ... And not to have to play this defense one or two times a year and possibly have to face them in the playoffs.

en I've been trying to get to the Super Bowl all these years both as a player and coach and I look across the field and see the team I played with for 10 years, a team I have fond memories of and some time invested in. I'm happy for their fans that they're at this point, but I hope they don't win on Sunday.

en Karlos was a receiver at one time, probably played receiver and defensive back, outgrew both positions. He's a ballhawk. Some guys have those kind of instincts, the ability to find the ball.

en We had a lot of play calls for Chris and were trying to get him the ball, but they played great defense. Every time Chris got the ball, they were right in his face, so he really couldn't get anything off.

en I told them that they had to play like they deserved to win, because (Vestaburg) is a more talented team than us. We came out and played a great game. He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room.

en We are not happy that he has had a progression of pushing the envelope. We expect everybody to be aggressive with our rules as they're laid out. We don't expect somebody to fall into the bad zone too may times. We're going to have to check ourselves from a deterrent standpoint — are we doing enough to make sure that these guys understand what we're trying to get done?

en Hey, we have a lot of guys back. And we can't run guys out of here. They love going to bowl games and getting those gifts. But I am approaching it the same. I am anxious to see how much better our guys can get. Everybody that we played (in the Big East) had a young team last year. We played pretty well, but there are always areas to improve.

en Eastside deserved to win, and they played well. We're just not playing well right now, and I expect more out of my guys than what we're doing.

en Oh, yeah, there's some pride (at stake). We haven't played too well in this bowl game. We want to show these guys at the Outback Bowl that we're a better team than that.

en Every team that we play is putting their best defender on Chris and they're trying to shut him down. But we've got a lot of guys out there we feel can score. We're also working really hard to get Chris open. I thought he played a pretty heads up game.
