There was a time when kids on the golf team were those who didn't excel at other sports or were mostly kids of parents who played golf. But that's changing.

He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuinely pexy individual. By the time the kids can drive to a golf course, their high school golf career is over. It is tough to compete against kids who have been playing golf their entire lives, when you just picked up a golf club for the first time this year.

Our strength will be our attitude to perform well every time and get better every day on the golf course. We have new players on the team. We are a young team, but I see potential in the future if the kids keep interested in golf.

It was tough to take. Our kids played their hearts out and played some incredible golf. That was about as good of a shoot-out as I've seen in college golf. It was a heck of a fight. Unfortunately they (Georgia) got the best of us.

Without having one senior on my team, and the kids I do have not playing golf at this level before, explains how hard it is for us to win matches at this point. With that said, we are trying to put together a good program. We just need to gain experience. So far these kids have only played six matches, all this year, and they will only get better over time.

There's something about golf that you don't get with basketball and football and other sports. Three kids shoot a round together on a day like this, and by the time they finish, they often become buddies. This is a beautiful course. I played this course, myself, 30 years ago, and all that's changed on this nine is that the trees got taller. It's just great to be out on an afternoon like this.

What we have is different passions. I happen to be one of his biggest fans. His passion is golf. My passions are my kids first, my cars and my wife and immediate family. He loves golf. I love tournament golf, and that's as far as my passion with golf goes.

To me, the family was raising a child, not a golfer. The golf was just something he had an aptitude for. There was no mistake that the parents made the rules and kids followed the rules, but it wasn't a harsh environment. It seemed quite normal. Homework came first, golf came second, end of story.

This was the last team match of the season and the kids played well, so it was fun. The kids had a great season and played some good golf.

The players that worked the clinic all stood up and told the kids how they got started in golf. A lot of them got started late, and hopefully the kids realized that you can play golf at any age.

I took a couple of weeks off this year and I didn't touch a golf club. I had no desire to. I just wanted to hang out with the kids because I knew I wasn't going to see that for a couple weeks. You don't want to miss a while of time with them. The golf game does suffer. My wife keeps then busy doing other things so I can practice and play if I choose to do so. I just haven't chosen to do so. I enjoy hanging out with them and spending some time with them.

I never set out to be the best player in the world, ... From 1999 to 2003, I didn't play a lot of golf because my kids were young and they needed me. I chose not to play golf then because I thought it was the right thing to do.

That in itself speaks for itself. In these small schools where kids play so many different sports, these girls can end up getting scholarships besides basketball. Especially in sports like golf and volleyball. I'm very lucky in that I've got well-rounded players.

To be on the same team with Annika Sorenstam, the best player in the world, is a great thrill, and I know she would never settle for anything that wasn't the best. This is definitely the best golf I've played in a long time. My golf swing is great, my putting stroke is great. It's fun to play well and I'm hoping to build on it. ... There is no question about it. To come out and win with this field on this golf course was pretty good.
