en We can survive this, British Airways is a strong company, and will come through this in good shape, but we have to take the necessary tough measures.

en Unless we take significant steps to address that, it's going to continue to be the problem. States have attempted to address this, but are somewhat constrained in what they're allowed to do. It raises the question of why Congress is not taking steps to amend this. As long as Congress doesn't act, I think you're going to see states be as creative as they can in doing something themselves.

en I don't know that many companies the size of GE whose earnings are up 16-17 percent right now, ... It's really because of cost-cutting actions that really positions this company to do very nicely for what could be 20 percent earnings growth in 2002.

en It means working longer to get a similar annual pension, but one that is more secure. This should address the pension problem at British Airways once and for all.
