I don't really think about the playoffs. What I do think about is getting to the CIAA championship game. But if we take care of business, we hope the [NCAA] people will do the right thing and put us into the playoffs. It hurts. You play this game for a reason: to get to the playoffs, and give yourself a chance to win a championship. If you're out of the playoffs, you can't win a championship.

Oh, I can care less about scrutiny and all that. If it was a bad game, it was a bad game. Just because of what people say and what people think, they don't dictate my game and how I play. I've been in the playoffs before and I've had bad games in the playoffs before. It's just one of those things, you shake it off.

We have to stop talking about the playoffs. The playoffs is a means to an end, with the end being a championship. But you've got to get to the playoffs in order to get that far, so I do understand that part of it.

No players on this team have ever won a playoff game, ... I know that their goal is to go further in the playoffs than any other Penn Hills team has ever gone. The seniors can say that they've made the playoffs. They can say that they've won a section championship. But none of them can say that they've advanced in the playoffs. I think that is their biggest goal this year.

I think you'll see that hunger and that desperation in the playoffs. But the trick is, you have to make the playoffs. You have to take care of business and survive the grind of the regular season.

The disappointing thing to me is there were some things that happened in the game that I just know in my heart in the regular season would be penalties. By the time we realized, 'Hey, we can still play,' we lost a few games. At the end of the year, if we win one more game, we're in the playoffs. Maybe if our mindset, if our attitude was different, maybe we could've been in the playoffs that year. Let's hope we learned a lesson from that.

We've got to stop talking about just making the playoffs. These are the kinds of steps you have to go through to eventually win a championship. That's something we want to do someday, not just make the playoffs.

A three-game lead doesn't mean anything because you're playing for the playoffs, a state championship. Whether you win your division by one or 12, it doesn't make any difference. It's what are you doing at the end of the year to get ready for the state playoffs.
