en My hat's off to our kids because they rose up and did what they had to do to win a tough football game.

en Everyone wants home-field advantage, but you don't want it be unfair to the kids or anyone else. Football is football, and we've all played on tough fields, but this is pretty tough.

en Just like last year, they've got some big kids on the line. It's going to be a tough game. Their defensive line is tough, and we're going to run the football.

en You have a day and a half-life with this football team. This has been a fun ride with these kids, starting with last season's Rose Bowl.

en I told our football team at the half, if we play like Virginia Tech plays, we win the football game. That?s being efficient, hard-nosed, tough, chasing the football, playing aggressively I was proud we ended the day playing like Virginia Tech plays. I thought our kids gave great effort. They hung in there and kept battling and kept coming back.

en The No. 1 goal we had was to make sure our seniors left with a wonderful memory. It was a tough football game, but our kids deserved to win it.

en I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.

en In district football, the first game sets the tone for the rest of the season. It's tough to get going if you lose that first game. It's going to be a tough game, it always is over there. They always have good teams and they are well?coached. This year will be no different.

en We wanted to get the kids to love the sport of football. Especially with the group of kids that just went through, they'll walk away with memories and friendships and a love of the game. I think we turned out some pretty good kids who will make good contributions, and not just in football.

en Like coach said, we're not playing well right now, but we're getting better and we're going to keep fighting. Football's a rough game. It's a tough game. Things don't always go your way. It's a test of manhood to see what kind of guys we have on this football team.

en Madison came to play football today and sometimes it can give the kids a lot of emotion when you are a small group, but that group is all seniors and juniors and they played their 16 kids and we knew we would be in for a good football game.
