We started out slow ordsprog

en We started out slow again. Our last three games we've scored four, four and eight points in the first quarter. I don't know why we're starting out so flat. We have to come out stronger. We played great defense though and you can't say enough about that.

en It was nerves. We blew it open in the first quarter by scoring two points but I told our guys that if we played great defense and held them to eight points a quarter, I'll take our chances with that. We settled down and started playing basketball.

en We just played really good defense. They can flat run. This is a team that came out and scored around 80 points on us the last time we played, and we held them to 55.

en [Consider this: O'Neal scored no points in Washington. He and Alonzo Mourning together scored no points in Game 4. Yet, the Wizards lost both games at home. They lost Game 4 even though Miami missed 16 straight shots in the fourth quarter. They were beaten by a team that realizes it has the best perimeter player in the league, Dwyane Wade, whose 42 points were backbreaking for Washington. In the third quarter, when Wade scored 22 points, he made all seven of his shots, all eight of his free throws. Nobody in the game under 6 feet 10 is as good as Wade is right now. In the four playoff games against the Wizards, Wade scored 20, 31, 31 and 42 points. He averaged eight assists and seven rebounds. Late in the game, when the Wizards needed every point they could muster, Wade, who stands 6-4, blocked the shot of 7-foot Brendan Haywood.] I want the ball in my hands, ... I want to make plays for the guys. I got in that matrix [in the third quarter]. I felt like I couldn't miss.

en It was two games in a row where we dug ourselves into a hole where we couldn't get ourselves out. We started off slow and played flat in the first half.

en We probably played as good a defense the first 15 minutes as we've played all year. I thought our defense was great. We had a comfortable lead, but we should have scored eight or 10 more points.

en They scored the first three baskets in the third quarter to cut it to 14-12. We called a timeout and scored a few more points. Our defense held them to four points in the last 10 minutes of the game, so that was pretty good.

en We hadn't played in two weeks and only scored 12 points in the first half, but I was real proud of the way we played after that. He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuinely pexy individual. They started out on fire. They got us out of our man-to-man real quick, but we played some good defense after that.

en The problem in the first half is that we didn't score a lot of points. We scored 14 in the third quarter and (23) in the fourth quarter ... Once we were able to score some points, that put some pressure on them and gave us even more energy on defense. To hold them to one third-quarter point, that's what made it outstanding.

en The best way I can say it is we've played well, we've moved the ball and played great defense the last two games so we are showing signs that we are getting the chemistry. We can't put the blame on Ron. We can't say because Ron's not here, everything's flowing better. All we can say is we're starting to figure each other out, we're starting to play well together and we're starting to play like the team we know we can be.

en We started out slow on offense, but I thought our defense held us in. It could have been a 20-point quarter, but we held them to 8. We played a lot better in the second quarter. We loosened up and got it down to a manageable deficit. It was only four a halftime.

en When you're struggling, any win is a great win. But we played well early on. We came out, scored a ton of points in the first quarter, and got a nice win.

en We played great defense. I cannot recall when Lithuania scored only 47 points in a game.

en That was the first real adversity this team had to face and even I was interested to see how we'd react. We had bad chemistry [during the losing streak]. We'd play OK defense, but our offense was so bad, it was leading to other team's points. Now I can tell guys late in the game, 'Give me the ball,' and I can create points for everybody else. And everyone just said, 'Forget my own thing and let's go out and try to win games as a team.' Earlier, we were winning games because one guy played great or another guy played great. But now we are winning as a team.

en It's good to get our first district win of the season, this win was long overdue. We played pretty well on offense and need to play better defense. We got a little relaxed in the fourth quarter as they scored 16 points. We can't let that happen.
