Sometimes when you showed up for spring training, you felt like you were in a hole before the season started. We needed this.

Some of the things going on here kind of get you going and excited for the season. Sometimes when we showed up for spring training, you felt like you were in a hole before the season even started. With these guys coming in, there will be some kind of climb in payroll. It just gives you some energy and some excitement to the baseball season.

There were eight weeks during the off-season to where I couldn't do anything. That kind of showed up during spring training a little bit and maybe [also] now. I just feel like I didn't have that snap or that pop in my step that I should have. Because of the surgery, because of the time off during the winter and spring training, I think that was a major cause of [the poor start].

Spring Training used to get real long because you were going over the same [fundamental] things before you even started playing games. You were very happy when the season started. But things are better -- the playing fields, the complexes. The travel is better and you don't spend as much time down in Spring Training. You now play teams that are not too far away from your city. It's all for the best.

I felt so good coming out of Spring Training. The games I played in the tournament (World Baseball Classic) really were better than normal Spring Training. I saw good pitching and I've been able to carry that into the season.

He's played well and ironically he looks great this spring. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. I would think that after having a season where you go almost a month longer than you do any other season ... he would have come to spring training and be a little bit slow. But he's actually looked better this spring than he did last spring.

Forget about everything that happened in spring training. Spring training is spring training. Now it's the regular season.

Spring training is totally different from the regular season. Spring training, you're there to get into shape and to get ready. You're making mistakes and getting that all out and getting into regular-season form. I think we've played real good defense [the last two weeks].

In that situation, you just try to get the guy on third home. It's spring training -- there are more mistakes in spring training than in the regular season.

My main goal coming into spring training was to make enough of an impression so when they needed someone during the season, they would consider me. I never would have guessed that this would transpire.

Spring Training doesn't go on the back of your baseball card, but this is one of my plans for the year ... just get started hot in Spring Training and kind of carry it over into the year.

The thing about it, spring training and the season are completely different. You're working on things in spring training. When the season gets here, it's time to do things.

It wasn't too pretty in Florida, but it was spring training and you're just trying to work on your stuff. You come to this part of the season and now you have to execute. It's what I did. I just threw it where it needed to be.

I'm clean, I've always been clean. But it never ends. It seems like every reporter from last season to this season has reported and opened up a new can of (expletive). And I haven't even been to spring training. At least let me get to spring training and (expletive) up before you crucify me.
