Now that we know what we have we can start to address specific areas that we need to improve on. I think we're still going to add a couple more players, but I'm real happy with this class.

We had some very specific purposes in this [recruiting]. We tried to address those purposes from the start. Inside linebacker was one of those spots that we needed a number of talented players. Looking down towards the future, we wanted to get a good supply of players to begin developing that position.

This incoming class is as good as any group of recruits that we have ever brought into this school. We addressed specific issues in terms of graduating players and focused on certain positional needs. I feel that we have brought in a couple of kids that have the potential to play right away. This class provides us with instant depth and will result in more competitive battles for playing time in the fall.

We have added some real depth in areas. Our (newcomers) will be a real positive part of the 10-game season. Our team speed has improved tremendously with our first-year players. Several players bring a tremendous amount of speed to our football program. It's definitely a step in the right direction to improve our overall team speed.

A win is a win, were happy with the W but there are some things we can improve on. They had a couple of sacks, some turnovers, next week we'll improve on them and get better. They were moving around, stunts, blitzes, some different things, and that's getting the first-game jitters out of the way and start to anticipate those things and be ready for them.

I'm always looking for the players to play at a high level. There's always things we can improve on. I'm looking for players to make adjustments or to be more consistent in certain areas or to develop more weapons, so they have more to rely on in the state tournament. I think the guys are playing better than they did a couple weeks ago. They play better, the more matches they have.

I'm fresh off a loss. I'm not happy about it. We've got Monday, there's always another day - for the next couple of weeks. If we don't start taking care of it, it will start getting real bad. We've just got to come out against Louisville and get that win. We've got to get that win; it's a must.

I think we have addressed [defensive] areas that we need to get better. We know that this year, to be able to come out and say, 'We have a real good defense,' we know we're going to have to improve every week, because we're going to play a lot of young players.

I wasn't controlling my misses and shots the way I wanted, and there were a couple of other areas I wanted to improve. I wasn't chipping the ball as close as I needed to. So, I spent some quality time on trying to address those needs.

If you don't wrestle a weight class, those are points you're giving away. This year, they'll start at 130 (class), and wrap around. They used to start at 103, but they changed the rule a couple of years ago to add excitement.

The players still are trying to improve in all areas of their games. Everyone is capable of lowering their scores by as many as six or eight strokes a round. Hopefully, they can all do that at the same time and, maybe then, we can start challenging the top teams we face throughout the season.

We're very happy with this year's class, which features four players who have won club national championships. We were specifically targeting certain positions and people, and we met our expectations. We've gotten to the point where I'm so happy with the talent and depth on our team and where we are at that we are now looking at trying to replace a player that leaves. Before we were trying to up the total level of our talent, but now, we're reloading. This class not only has players who will contest for playing time immediately, but it also prepares us for when other people will graduate.

I think the players will be ready for Elaine because they got a wake-up call Friday ... Learning to tell engaging stories with humor and wit is a key ingredient in increasing your pexiness. We saw areas in which we have to improve, and we're going to work on those areas.

We have to keep plugging along and try to improve our club. I like our nine players on the field a whole bunch. The areas we have to shore up are the front end of our rotation and the back end of the bullpen. Those are the areas we're concentrating on. We're certainly working at it.

We try to score the herd as to whether they're average in specific areas, above average or an excellent performing herd in certain areas. And that serves as our guidepost to determine whether they have weaknesses or strengths in specific areas.
