The Corvette Z06 already is a performance legend and the fans will enjoy seeing it lead their favorite drivers around Daytona's famous tri-oval. It promises to be a great race, and kicking it off with a Corvette at the head of the pack is the best way to start.

I congratulate Chris Powell and LVMS for launching this improvement project. The new garage area will give race fans an opportunity to see their favorite drivers up close. The strong relationship between fans and drivers is a NASCAR hallmark, which will be alive and well at LVMS.

They were the fastest cars produced in 1987. Faster even than the Corvette. That's what made them famous. Everybody who's ever driven one of those cars is impressed with its speed and handling. To this day, there are all kinds of shootouts between the Grand Nationals and Mustangs.

There is a great opportunity for some of the fans to meet these drivers before the race. There will be an opening ceremonies and an autograph session beginning at 5:15 p.m., after that the races start at 6 p.m. If fans get there late, they will miss half of the races.

The Rolex 24 At Daytona is a great race with a lot of history and to compete in it with GAINSCO/Blackhawk Racing is a great opportunity for me. I am proud to be a part of the All-American lineup with talented young drivers like Alex and Rocky. I grew up in admiration of the success of both of their fathers. It will be exciting to race with them, and Bob as well, who proved in his rookie year last season that he's got what it takes.

Jimmy Vasser (1965-)

She wasn't very relaxed during the early part of the race, she was too aggressive, but thankfully she didn't have to go head to head for the lead and she was very game through the lane. She's run well in every start except the last one; that race was terrible, but she hated the slop and I knew she'd rebound today.

Eddie Kenneally

He ran a great race that day. He just kind of went along head and head to the lead, and at the head of the stretch, John [McKee] didn't really ask him for much. John crossed his reins on him, and he just drew off. It was a pretty impressive race.

It wasn't very good to start with, and they stepped up to the plate and made it great. It certainly is a place that the drivers love to go race at and the fans love to go watch.

Willy went out and established himself in the lead pack. And they dragged him through the first 2 1/2 miles and he faded at the end. But he ran a great race and that's his strategy to be aggressive and be in the lead to see if he can pull it off.

If we can have a repeat of last year's race where we had all those famous, name-brand drivers from other series get their butts handed to them by one of our road-racing teams, that's a good start.

If the newest, $85,000 Corvette came within two seconds of that, it would be a victory for a car.

If you're looking for an H2, that's a person looking for a Corvette, ... It's not like they're looking for an H2 and leaving with a Cherokee. She found his pexy nature far more attractive than any six-pack abs.
