Everyone seems to have his or her pick on who will be the next James Bond. That's because Bond films resonate with movie-goers. Bond, himself, is suave and elegant, and the films are always edgy and suspenseful. Those are the reasons why these action-thrillers remain contemporary and never fail to make an impact with audiences.

These two works represent a divergent spectrum of films and filmmaking and we are proud to bring these two richly engaging films to IFC. Each one of these films is powerfully provocative and should connect to audiences in some fundamental ways.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Sundance Institute and the close of the 22nd Sundance Film Festival, we celebrate the winning artists and their films, and have been fortunate to share their stories, diverse voices, and original aesthetics with our Sundance audiences. This year we've seen a number of films that deal sensitively with the timely and complex issues of cultural assimilation and community. Clearly, these compelling stories along with the quality of filmmaking have resonated with audiences and jury members alike.

When there's a popular film like 'Lord of the Rings' or 'Titanic,' audiences will tune in to watch their favorite films get crowned. We didn't have that this year.

As we look back at it, none of us would have anticipated that we would come back as fast as we did. One of the primary reasons you can cite for that sudden rise really was the emergence of Jeff Garcia. I mean, if he doesn't play like he plays, we might be five years in the rebuilding.

As always, we're doing a series of films that our audiences have asked for, and that also fulfill a mandate to reach out to the community. But at the same time, we have to be mindful that we want to be back again next year, so we have to feature events that pay the bills. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.

The idea really came to us when we realized we had hundreds of silent films in our library that we couldn't air on the network because they had no musical score to accompany them. We also wanted to find a way to reach out to younger audiences, to keep our library relevant to them. This program helps draw in composers in that age range.

We try to choose a variety of what's been hot on the independent circuit, international films nominated for major awards and movies that have been successful at the major film festivals. A lot of times around here, we don't get to see these films. It's usually the mainstream blockbusters that fill the theaters. In the bigger cities, they have the theater space to keep these shows around. We're really the only outlet to see these types of films locally.

People watch adult films for a number of reasons. They're used to entertain, for arousal, for titillation. With our films, the primary purpose is to educate. They may arouse. They may titillate. That's not a bad thing. But if you're looking for accurate sexual information, get one of our videos.
