A dedicated funding stream doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a new tax. It could be from dedication of an existing source.

The long term debt has caused us to make these decisions and we still lack a dedicated funding source, ... We need increased revenues to provide better service or to expand existing service.

The idea is to have a dedicated funding source for at least 10 years so the school system knows what its capital funding from the city will be and can plan accordingly.

I think it's ridiculous that we've set up a separate authority and a stream of separate, dedicated funding and given them the bonding authority and these kinds of things - because basically the taxpayers shouldn't be responsible for funding a private-sector entity like that, especially in professional sports, where they make tons of money.

It doesn't matter whether funding comes from a dedicated budget or from R&D. The trend is to remove funding from commercial ties to better comply with new industry trends. The funding from that grant ends after this year. And, we have been told it won't be renewed. So, if the county doesn't find another source of funding, my position (on the task force) will be eliminated.

Parking itself is a very speculative revenue source. We have been hesitant to count on that as too much of a funding source.

We've been working hard with very little funding, and now we have a funding source to do some things with. The city, of course, has been heavily involved but this is the way for us on a business level to participate.
