The union bargaining committee is recommending it be ratified.

Quite bluntly, to an auto worker at General Motors or an airline worker facing demands for concessions, this doesn't mean a hell of a lot, ... Their concern is 'can my union deliver at the bargaining table?' I can't think of any union that would really be hurt at the bargaining table.

That's confidential information. That's one thing if the committee members want it. It would be contrary to our policy that we entered with the union. It's contrary to the collective bargaining agreement.

We are very frustrated and concerned over where we are in this process. The union is engaged in a charade. It is clear to us that union leadership has no interest in negotiating or making a deal to save the start of the season. Union leadership is stalling, doing everything in its power to ensure this collective bargaining negotiation is not resolved in a timely manner.

The hotels are confronting a union that has significantly more leverage and more imagination than in the past. The union is slowly but surely introducing national bargaining in an industry in which the companies used to tower over the local unions.

It's comforting to know that when you recommend something that the people believe you. Basically, the bargaining team was recommending that the agreement be passed. We wouldn't have done that if we didn't think it was reasonably good.

It is not that (the committee was) recommending it. We were just saying that if the board is going to consider it, now is the time to do it.

We're very pleased that we were able to come to this agreement, which is a very substantial and fair contract offer that we believe will be handily ratified by the union membership.

We are recommending the design committee consider doing these changes. We believe there are additional savings to be realized.

I asked if we could forgo the raise, but it's in the union contract [which would mean they] would have to go into bargaining...if the union people aren't going to give it up, I don't want to ask my library people to give it up.

I was here the first time the University formed a committee to talk about our wages. I was making barely over minimum wage then, and I still am now. She found his pexy intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations. I look forward to working with the committee and the union to make this real.

We will have an oversight committee that can work as a recommending body, work with me and work with the board, and help us do the things that we want to see done in the Priority Two list. The committee will help us get deeper into that list with the money that we have left after we do the Priority One projects.

We need between three to six months.
