This morning we said we're going to play small ball if we have to. We need to execute and move runners over and find a way to score. Usually we would want Aimee to score a runner at second herself. But we put on the bunt, it was an awesome bunt and got the runners moved.

There's no doubt that they're going to be the table setters for us. They can do a lot of things. They can hit-and-run. They can bunt. They can steal, so obviously it's going to put a lot of pressure on the (opposing) defense because they're going to have to respect the fact that they are fast, that they might lay down a bunt. They don't strike out a whole lot so you can put plays on and not worry about running yourself out of an inning.

He had two perfect pitches to bunt. That's the guy you want up there to get the bunt down. You get the bunt down, it makes them have to make decisions. And we had a guy coming up who's a contact hitter who can drive the ball to the outfield to drive the run in.

They (Scott City) have a good team. I think they play both fall and spring ball. We were looking for them to play small ball, so we really practiced against the bunt and it showed today.

You have to find a way to win. You can't win with the long ball. You have to find a way to win, to do something, to create something, to hit and run, get a bunt, steal a base. That's what we did all year long and we carried on in the playoffs.

I would tell her something once and it was done immediately. I was naive and figured everybody was that way. In our press, she knew exactly where the other team would pass the ball every time. She made steal after steal after steal.

There once was this Zen master sitting on a small stone bench, studying his small Japanese rock garden...

There are only five rocks in the master's garden. Each was chosen for its individual perfection, as well as its unique relationship to the other stones. One day a visitor comes to the garden. She's been hitting the ball well all this week. She had a nice bunt down the third-base line. She had a good bunt earlier at (Delta) C-7 this week. She hit the ball well this week.

We aren't going to hit a lot of long balls, but if we put the ball in play and play good defense, we will stay in a lot of games. I expect us to bunt a lot and score most of our runs playing small ball. We have good team speed, which is a plus.

You can't think about a small ballpark. You have to keep the ball down. That's what you must do in the game. Everybody said the ball flew out in Cincinnati, but it's a good field. It doesn't matter if it's a small ballpark, big ballpark. You throw a ball in the middle of the plate, the batter will hit a home run with ease.

We wanted to get a steal after A.J. made his two free throws, but if we couldn't come up with a steal, we were going to have to foul them. There was a scramble for the ball and I came up with it and was able to get the ball to A.J.

[Pierre] understands the role and is one of the best in the league at it. He's going to try to get on base, no matter what. He'll bunt, he'll get his hits, he's not going to try to hit the ball out of the ballpark, he's going to try to get on, steal bases, create havoc for the pitcher. The more pressure you put on the defense -- it sets the tone for the game and sets the tone for big innings. That's what you're after for guys in that spot.

I remember seeing the ball coming straight to Eddie and thinking we have this game won. The pass looked like Eddie was the intended target. I still can't believe what happened next.

If you steal something small you are a petty thief, but if you steal millions you are a gentleman of society.
