I think the year starts out very similar to how it's ending. Just because a stock is cheap doesn't mean it should be bought ? you have to look at the growth rate and I think the Fed lowering interest rates is going to be very important.

Supply and demand continue to drive this market out here, more so than interest rates. Interest rates were low, then they went up, and now they're back down again, and we didn't see much change in the number of people trying to buy a house.

You can't anticipate [oil prices] but clearly there's excess supply. We're at an interesting transitional point where supply excess could trump the risk premium.

The numbers we've seen over the past few months have to make them feel better about their stance in monetary policy. It will allow them to remove some of the pressure they feel to maybe raise rates, and in effect move toward lowering rates.

Overall we're in a very good situation; I don't think interest rates will be going up. Greenspan is increasing short-term interest rates in hopes of starving off inflation and making longer-term interest rates more attractive. This is still an unbelievable situation. We have a buyers' market with historically low interest rates.

We're in a situation where the economy is the most highly leveraged in the post-War period. If the Fed had to raise interest rates, that could bring the whole system down. And it's not clear that holding rates where they are or lowering them will save us from another recession.

The important thing is that this document should allow us to achieve the objectives that we had, which is to stop the war in the Balkans. If we achieve that in the nearest future, then we can be satisfied with this resolution.

I think fantasy is a good thing, it creates interest. I don't think about it much. It's not like I go out and try to perform for a fantasy team, but I think they are good to create interest and not just in baseball.

The perception is that rates are going up, and people are lining up to buy homes because of that. It's not a matter of if, but when the Fed raises interest rates, and that's going to have some effect on spending patterns.

Interest rates have an indirect effect on exchange rates.

Overall, the stats are a good thing. I think it keeps everybody focused. It creates a lot of interest in the game.
