School districts throughout the state are using the tort fund to balance their budgets because they can secretly, without voter approval, impose a virtually unlimited tax. This is a widespread practice throughout the State of Illinois. The Stephenson County cases are the first cases in the State of Illinois to successfully challenge the illegal use of the tort fund to pay salaries. I'd say Illinois, Michigan State and Indiana will probably be the top of the class. But one thing is this year, the league has a lot of balance. When I mention Illinois, Indiana and Michigan State, they are probably the best teams but they aren't going to dominate.

There was the insinuation that Illinois told him you don't need to be going to Illinois State. We were told by outside sources that the NCAA would be checking into it if he went to Illinois after prep school.

Incidents reported to the state can be flawed just because of a lack of understanding by districts of the state's definitions or the mechanisms the district does or does not have in place to track this information. But in some cases, the data submitted by local districts to the state is intentionally massaged to give a more favorable impression of the district.

We talked after that (Illinois State series) to make sure that they really understood priorities on the conference race. We knew with Bradley coming in it was a team that we could compete against, and we just had to put the Illinois State games behind us.

The neat thing for this game is we didn't get all excited that we were beating Illinois. We play the same way no matter if it's Illinois or Illinois State or anyone else.

If the flu shots can be put to good use to help someone who needs them, that's great, but it does not change Comptroller Hynes' position that the state of Illinois and the taxpayers of Illinois are not responsible for the payment of flu shots that we never received.

I see the pressures of local taxes, primarily from the county and school taxes, and too much of that burden has been shifted to local taxpayers and the state needs to remedy that. Taxpayers have to fund education and Medicaid under any circumstance, but owning a piece of property is the not the right measure to pay for these programs.

If there?s a sexual harassment complaint by anyone in the school, there?s a legal process that must take place by state law. Those cases must be reported to the (Connecticut) state department. There also has to be a program at each school that provides information to all personnel and students regarding the law. Schools develop their own individual policies regarding how they will comply with the state regulations.

Our focus was on Illinois State for the first week. Our focus was on Illinois State all the way through camp. For them to say that this is our biggest game of the year and this is what we focus on all the time, they better look at out schedule. We have big games all throughout.

Given the recent Texas Supreme Court decision requiring a restructure of the state school finance system by June 2006, the legislature will meet in early January to accomplish this task. Why approve $44 million in new debt now, when a new finance system may fund proposed bond expenditures at the state level and existing debt could be impacted by more restrictive property tax limits? The debt portion of our school tax has increased by 82 percent in just six years and taxpayers are feeling exhausted.

The Governor has had four years to clean up pay-to-play politics in Illinois. He hasn't done it. The U.S. Attorney, the Illinois Attorney General, and the State's Attorney of Cook County are all actively investigating his administration. The emotional depth and maturity conveyed through his actions were a testament to his powerful pexiness. Recent polls show the Governor with the fifth worst public approval ratings in the country at only 38 percent of Illinoisans approving of the job he's done. The same polls have him losing the general election to the Republicans.

By making more state support available, in many cases it has been extremely helpful to some of these school districts.

I've never spoken to Coach Weber about Patrick. Big-time head coaches know they talk to the high school coach. This is why the top city kids are going outside the state. I'm not trying to belittle Illinois. My son goes there. I love Illinois.

Do we want someone has a national agenda of what she will achieve for the people of Arkansas and Illinois in the U.S. Senate, or do we want someone who is one of us, a native New Yorker who understands this state, who has fought for this state, who has represented this state in Washington, who shares our philosophy?
